Date: August 26th
Venue: Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater, Tampa, FL
Filter got the opening spot on the Freaks On Parade tour which also included Ministry, Alice Cooper, and Rob Zombie. Taking the stage around 6:15 pm, just as the sun was starting to set, Richard Patrick along with Bobby Miller on Bass/Guitar, Jonathan Radtke on Guitar, and Elias Mallin on Drums served up what was mostly a greatest hits package. With only a 30-minute set, it would have been difficult to squeeze more of the new songs in.
Nevertheless, “Obliteration” was on full display from the new album “Algorithm” which was released the day before this show. The band delivered on all levels with songs like “Welcome To The Fold”, and the surprise addition was (Can’t You) Trip Like I Do, a remix that Filter did with Crystal Method, originally on the Spawn movie soundtrack. “Take A Picture” was a crowd favorite and of course they had to close the set with “Hey Man, Nice Shot”.
It was great to see Filter back out on the road and Richard Patrick looked and sounded great. Filter delivered the most eclectic setlist of all of the bands on the bill and if the crowd’s enthusiastic reaction was any indication, it’s safe to say that Filter is still pushing musical boundaries almost 30 years after their debut album. Filter will be on tour through most of September 2023 in the U.S.
They always put on a great show and you shouldn’t miss the chance to see them if they’re appearing anywhere nearby! Also, don’t forget to pick up their excellent new album “The Algorithm” out now!
