Extreme performed for what appeared to be a sold-out performance for their show at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg Florida on March 8th, 2024. The venue is a really cool and unique place. With its outside courtyard feel, it’s a great place to see a show.
The band wasted no time in getting the crowd pumped up with crowd pleasers It’s ( a Monster) and Decadence Dance right out of the gate.
I go to a lot of live concerts and this is one of the best that I’ve seen in quite some time.
Frontman Gary Cherone shows why Van Halen thought that he would make a great addition as he puts on an energetic and electric live performance.
Guitar virtuoso, Nuno Bettencourt is considered one of the best living rock guitarists, and with good reason. Not only did he skillfully shred through rocking anthems, but carefully delivered delicate acoustic numbers with ease and grace.
The rhythm was held down by the incredible Pat Badger and drummer Kevin Figueiredo respectively. All the hits were performed as well as many of the songs from their latest album “Six” and judging from the audience’s reaction, the new songs were well received. And, rightfully so, the new album is on par with the bands’ other albums and delivers their signature sound with a few new twists and turns.
If you’re looking for a great concert, look no further than Extreme’s current tour. These guys really know how to put on a show. There was also a nice nod to the late Edward Van Halen when Nuno included part of “Eruption” into the band’s setlist.
In the immortal words of Extreme’s hit song, “If you don’t like what you see here…”Then get the funk out!”
Because frankly…if you don’t like what you see at an Extreme concert, you might be beyond help.
