In 1985 the band Ready For The World hit the scene, blending pop. funk, R & B, and electro elements. They scored a huge hit with their single “Oh Sheila” and as a result, found their debut album going Platinum in sales. The band was comprised of Melvin Riley Jr. – lead vocals, guitar, Gordon Strozier – guitar, backing vocals, Gregory Potts – keyboards, backing vocals, John Eaton – bass, backing vocals, Gerald Valentine – drums, electronic drums, and Willie Triplett – electronic drums, backing vocals. …
So where are they now?
Well, with the exception of former vocalist Melvin Riley, the original Ready For The World is still doing what they do best. The band has added singer David Lyve and continues to perform to this day. The members of the band also consult and do production for other bands and artists while performing fan favorites live, like: “Oh Sheila”, “Love You Down”, “Digital Display”, “Slide Over”, “Ceramic Girl”, “Mary Goes Round”, “Long Time Coming” and “Here I Am”.
DrummerWillie Triplett has stated: “It’s an honor to have lasted 35 years in the music industry and now come full circle after such a long hiatus. It is a true blessing we each will not only make the best of, we intend to enhance the overall music experience for years to come rejuvenating the art by playing and encouraging more live instrumentation in music”
