Sex, Drugs, and Rock N ‘Roll. Hard rock bands are no strangers to wild tales of groupies and debauchery, but three songs, in particular from well know artists like Motley Crue, KISS and Winger pushed the envelope with their lyrics about forbidden love. At the time these songs were released… many of the bands’ fans were in high school and could totally relate to these ideas of young love, but the artists recording these songs were far from high school age and the lyrical content seems pretty cringe-worthy these days.
First up we have “All In The Name Of…” by Motley Crue from The Girls! Girls! Girls! album which was supposedly written about legendary porn star Tracy Lords who used a fake birth certificate to enter the adult film industry when she was just 16 years old.
Artist: Motley Crue
Song: All In The Name Of
Album: Girls! Girls! Girls
Next up, we have Christine Sixteen by KISS from their 1977 album, Love Gun. The song was quite controversial when it was released with some radio stations refusing to play it and others only playing it later at night.
Artist: KISS
Song: Christine Sixteen
Album: Love Gun
Lastly, we have the song “Seventeen” by Winger which reached #26 on the Billboard charts when it was released. Just for the record, if she was seventeen in 1989, she’s 51 years old in 2023.
