XYZ founder, vocalist, and former singer for Great White, Terry Ilous brought his touring version of XYZ to multiple dates throughout Florida recently and XS ROCK was on-site for the Clearwater show on October 15th.
The show was opened by a fantastic band of young guys called AON, All Or Nothing, who also are serving as the XYZ band on this tour. These guys brought the fire for their opening set and hit every note on the XYZ set.
The first thing you notice is that Terry’s voice sounds incredible and it’s exactly as he sounded in the 80s and 90s. The show was a spectacular set of XYZ hits including “Maggy”, “Inside Out”, “what Keeps Me Loving You”, “Nice Day To Die” and “Face Down In The Gutter”. It’s great to see Terry mentoring his backing band in the rock n roll jungle and he was singing their praises between the songs.
I never got to see the original lineup of XYZ perform live before, so I was a bit skeptical before the show about how the touring band would sound, but I was completely blown away by this entire high-energy show. XYZ’s set was followed up by Terry joining guitar legend George Lynch to handle vocals for the classic songs of Dokken.
This was an incredible show and if you get the chance to catch Terry and the band in concert, I absolutely recommend it. Between all three bands, it was a full 3-hour show and they kept the crowd wanting more and had them on their feet for the duration of the show.
