Glam/Hair Metal bands of the ’80s and early ’90s were all about sex and hedonism, so it makes perfect sense that their songs would be the perfect musical backdrop for strippers to take to the pole and fulfill every man’s (and some women’s) fantasies. Some songs just became a perfect fit for the crossover to the dancer’s stage, and we compiled a list of some of the best ones below:
1. Def Leppard – “Pour Some Sugar On Me”
Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” is probably the biggest stripper anthem of all time, with the lyrics seemingly being written exactly for the dancers. This one filled the adult dance clubs everywhere and is still going strong today.
2. Motley Crue – “Girls, Girls, Girls”
Motley Crue release “Girls, Girls, Girls” as a tribute to dancers, even calling out the names of their favorite dance clubs in the lyrics, so it’s no surprise that this one makes the top part of the list.
3. Warrant – “Cherry Pie”
Cherry Pie, with its suggestive lyrics and equally suggestive music video, made certain that it would become a favorite on the dance circuit.
4. Danger Danger – “Naughty, Naughty”
Once again, another song tailor-made to strip by. I mean, the song repeats the phrase “Let’s Get Naughty” throughout, so it stands to reason that it was going to be a fav.
5. BulletBoys – “Smooth Up In Ya”
Hmm….What could Bulletboys singer Marq Torien be singing about with these lyrics?
6. Britny Fox – “Girlschool”
My baby broke all the rules at the Girlschool. Pretty much sums it up and lets you know it’s gonna be a naughty girl’s anthem.
7. KISS – “Heaven’s On Fire”
While KISS used sexual innuendos in their songs, like Mexican restaurants use hot sauce, “Heaven’s On Fire” seemed to be the fan favorite of both the audience and many of the dancers. Later, KISS would release the song “Take It Off” as a straight-up tribute to the girls.
8. L.A. Guns – “Sex Action”
Here she comes…you’ll never get enough of her…
9. RATT – “Lovin’ You’s A Dirty Job”
Ratt singer Stephen Pearcy, widely known as the king of hedonism in glam metal circles, was a wordsmith at incorporating sexual innuendo in their songs. “Lovin’ You’s A Dirty Job” is one of the perfect songs that girls just loved to dance to.
10. Whitesnake – “Is This Love”?
Tawny Kitaen inspired thousands of new erotic dancers with the performance on top of those Jaguars in this music video, and the song translated well for the dancers to use as a slower romantic song to dance to.
11. Guns N’ Roses – “Sweet Child O’ Mine”
Here’s another song for the slower dance numbers that still gets played in clubs today.
12. Cinderella – “Shake Me”
She said “Shake Me” all night long…I think that says it all.
13. Winger – “Can’t Get Enuff”
The ladies loved Kip Winger, and this song was heavily used as an energetic dance number for the girls to bring the patrons of the clubs to their knees.
14. Scorpions – “Rock You Like A Hurricane”
This song makes the cut for both the lyrics and the high energy of the music that perfectly suited the needs of all of the girls, girls, girls of the stage.
15. Bon Jovi -“You Give Love A Bad Name”
This might as well have been a warning for the patrons in attendance not to fall in love with the dancers, but alas, many men did not heed the warning and felt shot through the heart as they watched the beautiful ladies dance.
