For years now we’ve all been hearing the phrase…rock music is dead.
Most of us didn’t believe it but have watched as one by one, a lot of rock bands have retired with no real successors in sight to take their place. I’m here to tell you, after witnessing the live show of All Or Nothing (AON), Rock N’ Roll is very much alive in the hands of the youth.
Lead singer Brett Carlisle has been in the spotlight lately after being chosen to front Great White. After this performance, I can completely see why Mark Kendall and Great White offered him the gig. Age-wise, the entire band are all in their 20s with the guitarist Jacob Mann, just recently being old enough to drink legally. Don’t let their age fool you…these guys rock and they do it every bit as well as the bands of the 80s hair metal scene of yesteryear. Oh sure, you’ve seen and heard other bands who try to bring back the 80s rock sound, but AON actually delivers it with true authenticity. The band is rounded out by Ian Smith on bass and Skylar McCain on drums.
I caught their performance on October 15th at the OCC Roadhouse in Clearwater Florida with Terry Ilous’s XYZ and George Lynch.
What was even more impressive with this performance was the fact that these guys basically played for 3 straight hours with only a small break between sets. AOn opened the show and then immediately performed with Terry Ilous doing all of the XYZ hits. Not only did they do them justice, but they hit every damn note, perfectly. Then once again, they were the backing band for George Lynch as AON singer Brett Carlisle and Terry Ilous shared vocal duties on the Dokken classics.
Make no mistake these guys are the real deal. I can’t really express how impressed I was with their musical ability, technical skill, and showmanship. They looked like they had a blast the entire time that they were on stage. If there’s any justice, these guys will be a household name in the next wave of hard rock music. I urge everyone reading this article to check out All Or Nothing and see why everyone’s talking about them.
