Bedroom Toys Are Bringing A Good Noise…When you think of Liverpool, you think of sports; the city is graced by two historic soccer teams, Liverpool and Everton. People here are super friendly, the place is stacked with pubs and…. music. That’s the keyword really, Liverpool IS music, and when you look out at the city, you can’t help but think of the amazing band that changed the nation. A band that begins with the letter B. Sorry, the name escapes me, no wait, I got it: Bedroom Toys.
Who are Bedroom Toys, I hear you ask? Now don’t be silly. Yes, we usually gravitate to the huge arena acts, but Yungblud has just left the city in a heap of joy and sweat. It’s the youth bands and grassroots that have always been at the pumping heart of a city that lives, breathes, and sleeps music.
Bedroom Toys are emerging fast as a pop-rock all-female trio. The band has already played some notable gigs, including The Jacaranda, the infamous pub with a venue downstairs that housed that other band beginning with B, who you may have heard of, The Beatles’ first ever gig in 1960! The band has also played at the spectacularly famous Cavern Club.
Bedroom Toys are brought together by lead vocalist and bassist Seren Hughes, Martina ‘Marty’ Calder on vocals and guitar, and Roisin Leach on drums and backing vocals.
The band formed in the early part of 2023 but had not found a drummer until the end of that year when Roisin jumped in. Like most bands starting out, Bedroom Toys began with covers from artists that had inspired them, such as The Beatles, but also towards more hard rock in the vein of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and ZZ Top.
Setlists from early gigs have dipped into rock n’ roll history, with the likes of AC/DC classics Highway to Hell and Whole Lotta Rosie belted out. Covering Girlschool would seem an obvious choice, and everyone from Aerosmith, Heart, and Paul McCartney gets the respect they deserve when these girls hit the stage and crank it up to 10.
Bedroom Toys have been playing gigs for the last 2 years and building up a loyal audience, but 2026 looks to be a turning point for them.
At the beginning of the year, they went into the studio to record some demos, and last month, they released their first-ever single, an original song called Come Here Kitten. The track comes complete with the catchiest chorus you are likely to hear all year. Don’t believe me? Listen below. Come Here Kitten has a great riff and a feeling of a punk attitude that builds throughout the song, and yet it is widely accessible to anyone who just likes good music.
Having been together for a few years, the trio is branching out, so while you can expect some cracking covers at their gigs, they have stacked up a few original songs of their own. Including new single Come Here Kitten, they also have tracks called Off My Skull, Rebellious Disaster, and the beautifully titled Death In Leather.
