SAMANTHA FISH ANNOUNCES DELUXE EDITON OF ‘PAPER DOLL’
FEATURING TWO NEW TRACKS!
THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RELEASE INCLUDES FREH SONGS
“DEAD ARMADILLO,” AND THE NEIL YOUNG’ CLASSIC,
“DON’T LET IT BRING YOU DOWN”
Samantha Fish, the genre-defying blues-rock powerhouse, proudly announces the release of the digital deluxe version of her album, Paper Doll. This edition includes two new bonus tracks from the original Paper Doll recording sessions: “Dead Armadillo,” written by Samantha and producer Bobby Harlow, and a rendition of Neil Young’s classic, “Don’t Let It Bring You Down.”
Regarding “Don’t Let It Bring You Down,” Samantha shared, “I started performing the Neil Young song during the pandemic. The lyrics have a dark and bleak quality, but they also hint at the possibility of change. Even if Neil intended it to be sarcastic, it resonated with us at that time, and people seemed to enjoy our version, so we decided to record it.”
On “Dead Armadillo,” she explained, “It’s a full-on rock loop that builds upon itself. I enjoy creating songs with simple foundations. The chords remain constant, but the hooks and melodies evolve throughout. Lyrically, it’s about accepting that not everyone will like or love you. You don’t have to be involved in every situation you encounter, and there’s good reason for that. Not every person is meant for you. It’s a mix of self-acceptance and being unbothered by the outcomes of that.”
Fish continues to gain widespread recognition as a leading voice in contemporary blues. She made her television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, promoting her ninth album, Paper Doll, which was released on the heels of her Grammy-nominated collaboration with Jesse Dayton, Death Wish Blues. She has been featured on the covers of Guitar World, Premier Guitar, Vintage Guitar, Guitar Thrills, and Blues Matters.” Guitar World has hailed her as “one of the most promising young blues performers,” while No Depression praises her genre-blending abilities, stating that she can “take you on a journey through country, blow your blues away, or slam you with some raucous rock.” Garden & Gun describes her as “one of the new guitar greats,” and Guitarist Magazine declares, “Samantha Fish is a force to be reckoned with.”
Many of her guitar-playing heroes have shown tremendous support, with Fish being handpicked by Eric Clapton to appear on his Crossroads Tour, participating in Slash’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Tour, and sharing the stage with legends like The Rolling Stones and Buddy Guy.
Fish has sculpted her sound by blending diverse musical traditions, from the drone of Mississippi Hill Country blues to the roar of anthemic, amplified rock. She performs over 250 shows a year, maintaining her status at the top of her game as she regularly tours across the U.S., UK, Europe, Australia, and Japan.
The immediate future sees Fish headlining an electrifying lineup showcasing the best in modern blues.
