glam

Glam metal, also known as hair metal, is a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It combines the theatrical elements of glam rock with hard rock and metal, featuring catchy hooks, impressive guitar solos, and power ballads. Visually, it is characterized by extravagant clothing, voluminous hair, and androgynous looks. The genre thrived on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip, with popular bands like Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Poison, Bon Jovi, and Cinderella dominating MTV and arena shows in the 1980s. Although its popularity declined in the early 1990s due to grunge, glam metal remains an influential part of rock history.
