XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Dash: The band is on the road as we speak. We are doing a Midwest run with the band FLAW and The Crowned. We are playing our 2nd show with them tonight in Joliet, Illinois. We also have our debut album being released on June 15th from David Ellefson’s EMP Label Group.
XS ROCK: How long has CO-OP been together?
Dash: The band formed in 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona.
XS ROCK: Obviously your dad, Alice Cooper is a living legend in the rock world, what was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Dash: I’ve always loved music. My parents raised me on some great tunes and I’ve always had a urge to sing along with songs. I guess it started at a young age when I would try to mimic my favorite band and singers. I just naturally progressed to the next step of moving forward in music by starting a jam band with my friends in high school called Runaway Phoenix. We played for a bunch of years but then I really wanted to take it seriously and see if I could make my passion/hobby a career. I guess you could say my main motivation is to be creative, support my family and enjoy what I do for a job.
XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Dash: That’s a really good question! I absolutely love the writing/recording process because of all the creative juices and time it takes to create awesome songs. However, performing live is really the privilege and honor a band gets because people want to hear what you do in a live format and share the experience with you. I would have to ultimately go with performing for a live audience!
XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road?
Dash: Nothing extremely outrageous but a little scary story. We were in Tucson playing and after the show we got on our bus to drive home and all of our headlights and tail lights were non functional. Car started just fine but we had zero lights and it was like 2am. No auto parts stores were open or anything. We had two of our die hard fans that drove up separately from Phoenix where we were headed back to. As it turns out, they offered to drive in front and behind us in a caravan to light our way home. It was pretty awesome of them to do that and we were incredibly grateful.
XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Dash: One of our die hard fans asked me to sign his arm and he had it tattooed on himself! It was pretty awesome! The whole band did it too and he now has our logo inked on his body as well!
XS ROCK: Being the son of Alice Cooper, were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Dash: Absolutely they were! We have always been a performance arts based family so they understand the passion and the joy of playing music live.
XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Dash: My current favorite track to play live is our new single N.O.W. I also love playing a song we have called Howl and another one called Overdrive.
XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Dash: Obviously being around my dad as a child, he inspired me to perform because of how much fun his stage show was. I think when I first heard Rage Against the Machine in Junior High, I was hooked on the idea of starting a hard rock band one day.
XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Dash: I would definitely love to have a tour opening for Airbourne or Foo Fighters
XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Dash: Opening for Motely Crue and Alice Cooper. Also getting signed to EMP!
XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Dash: I’d probably be involved in the NHL in some way, shape or form. I love hockey.
XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Dash: We use Paul Reed Smith Guitars, Kemper Profiling Amps, Tama drums, Orange Cabinets and Shure microphones.
XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Dash: I feel like it’s ready for a rock revival. I can appreciate all types of music, but true rock has been lacking or forgotten about in past years. I’m hoping we are part of the resurrection.
XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Dash: I’m a big Star Wars and Horror Movie nerd.
XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Dash: We call it Desert Hard Rock. It’s a classic rock base with a modern rock overtone.
XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Dash: Please look for our album release June 15th on EMP Label Group.
