Review:
Believe it or not, it’s been 29 years since Grim Reaper’s last studio album, Rock You To Hell was released. Vocalist Steve Grimmett has reformed the band with all new members. Considering the fact that nothing new had come from the band in almost 30 years, I was pretty sure that Grim Reaper was dead. No pun intended. However, I am happy to report that not only is Grim Reaper alive, but they’re also back to doing what they do best. Grimmett’s voice still sounds like it did all those years ago. I was curious how the band would sound without Nick Bowcott for the first time. Ian Nash, who replaces Bowcott is quite good. Although he has his own style, it’s really quite fitting with Grim Reaper‘s classic sound. The band hits hard and furious on tracks like Walking In The Shadows, From Hell, Call Me In The Morning, Rock Will Never Die and Blue Murder. These tracks really carry the classic Grim Reaper sound and banner to all of the metal fans that live, breathe and eat metal music. I honestly like every track on here. Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper have given us all what we wanted. A new Grim Reaper record, that fits in perfectly with the previous three releases. You won’t find any love ballads, nu metal or industrial fused keyboards anywhere on Walking In The Shadows. This album is exactly what Grim Reaper has always been. They’re  a straight forward, unapologetic metal band. And for me, that a fantastic thing to celebrate. So many bands have changed their sound to reflect whatever trends are currently selling the best in the music business. But not Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper. Walking In The Shadows sounds like it could have easily been released 3 years after “Rock You To Hell” rather than almost 30 years later. And with the release of this new album, the band is hitting the road and touring, which means we’ll all get a chance to hear these great new songs performed live along with all of the classic tracks from Grim Reaper‘s previous albums. I simply couldn’t be happier with this album or recommend it high enough. If you love traditional classic metal, go get this now. And as one of the song’s title suggests, “Rock Will Never Die”! Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper is making sure of that,
