Spread Eagle brought their brand of New York street metal to The Big Top Brewery in Sarasota Florida on November 22nd. And man did they deliver a killer live set of great rock n’ roll. The band is currently out on their Sound Of Speed Tour which will continue into 2025. The band features vocalist Ray West, cousins Rob and Rik De Luca on Bass and Drums, and Jommy Puledda on guitar. If the name Rob De Luca sounds familiar, it definitely should, he’s a rock journeyman who’s also been a member of the legendary rock band UFO and has been a member of Sebastian Bach’s band as well. Ray West still delivers a scream that makes your hair stand on end, Rik De Luca smashed the drums so hard that they had to take a short intermission to replace the snare, all the while Jommy Puledda shredded with blazing solos throughout the show.
The band opened their set with the title track from their latest album Subway To The Stars, followed by Sound Of Speed, Devil’s Road, Back On The Bitch, More Wolf Than Lamb, Broken City, Suzi Suicide, Pushed To The Limit (UFO cover) Thru These Eyes, then an extended jam that saw singer Ray West join Rik De Luca on drums and then the band continued with King Of The Dogs, Switchblade Serenade, and they closed with the energetic Scratch Like A Cat. Spread Eagle was firing on all cylinders and put on one hell of a show. We spoke to drummer Rik De Luca after the show and he had great news for all Spread Eagle fans, suggesting the band is looking to record and deliver a new record sometime in 2025. If Spread Eagle rolls through your town or anywhere near you on their current tour, it’s a must-see show, so grab your tickets early and get ready to be blown away with a rock n’ roll band that delivers the knockout punch every show!
