Saving Vice return with their most aggressive release to date — “Straw Dogs”, a defiant and unflinching anthem confronting small-minded arrogance and false bravado. The single arrives as the band prepares to take their chaotic live show nationwide on The Dark Side Tour, kicking off November 6 in Empire Live in Albany, NY.
Self-produced by guitarist Robbie Litchfield, “Straw Dogs”, distills the darker half of Saving Vice’s extensive sound, tapping into unapologetic, visceral rage. The song’s raw energy and confrontational tone mark a defining moment for the band, both sonically and personally.
“From conception, I knew I wanted this track to be a bouncy, catchy sing-along that still felt heavy and mean,” says Litchfield. “Once Tyler proposed his idea for the lyrics, I got very excited and contributed more than I have on any song prior lyrically, just because it was a topic I felt really personally passionate about. I’m really glad I pushed Tyler out of his comfort zone to be more angry and profane while still maintaining the core lyrical style our band is known for. This was just an incredibly fun and cathartic song to write — and I can’t wait to perform it live.”
Frontman Tyler Small calls it “an old-school metalcore riot,” a callback to the chaos of Bring Me the Horizon and Like Moths to Flames.
“I really wanted this song to feel angry and rowdy — something people will jump and punch to,” he explains. “Getting to roast the biggest haters in the industry and the worst kinds of bullies in general got me into a really angry place lyrically. At first, I thought maybe we pushed it too far — but then I remembered everything done to us and realized we were letting them off easy.”“Straw Dogs”, is the sound of a band reclaiming its bite with purpose. Between the punchy breakdowns and unminced words, Saving Vice have not just delivered a song destined for the pit, but for every listener who’s exhausted of hearing the empty noise of those who talk big and stand for nothing.
The Dark Side Tour sees Saving Vice joined by The Failsafe, Dead Things, and Dispositions on select dates across the U.S.
