Q & A With Tony And Neal From Prey For Sunday

Prey for Sunday is a Hard Rock/ Metal band that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 2018. Founded by Guitarist/Songwriter Neal Grusky, Lead Singer/Songwriter Tony Persico, and Bassist Shad.

Neal and Tony worked with Producer/Songwriter Peter Strzelecki to write and record the first Prey For Sunday album. Realizing the immediate chemistry they shared a vision; a need to create a unique, memorable sound that would go on to become Prey for Sunday – Music that’s made to stand the test of time. They pride themselves in creating musically dynamic songs, with meaningful, melodic, and “like it is” lyrical content.

The collective members of “Prey For Sunday” have been involved in bands that have released over 70 albums worldwide, participated in world tours, received extensive radio play, magazine exposure, and featured in three books. As well as having sold CD’s, and music streams that have exceeded over 100,000 plays/streams thus far.

Prey For Sunday works as a band that dedicates themselves to their fans and the pursuit of meaningful successful songs, With music and songwriting as one of its strongest assets, the band continues to improve, evolve, and commit themselves to the music that moves weary hearts.

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

We are as we speak, finishing up new material to record. We have quite a few songs we are preparing currently. We are also preparing to shoot a video for our second single “Broken Hearted Man” We hope to begin shooting in the next few weeks. (Neal)

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?

We’ve been working as a band for about 3 1/2 years now, I love seeing our evolution as a band & fine tuning that PFSunday sound. (Tony)

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Our main motivation was our love for music. Tony and I love to create. We hope people can see our passion from our lyrical content, to our musical content.(Neal)

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Well, I’m gonna lean towards songwriting only because it’s new to me and I’m really enjoying the process of sitting down with Neal jamming something out & getting the butterfly going / who knows that something could turn out to be our next song which is sweet – I also love performing & we can’t wait until we finally get the chance too! (Tony)

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road?

A)  We have not had a chance to tour yet. I remember being in Germany on tour with my previous band Takara, and going to meet and greats. I was surprised how long the lines were after shows to meet us(Neal)

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

Hmm, the strangest question would have to be whether or not I would get a tattoo on my face – yes of course! (But) It would have to be an invisible one  (Tony)

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?

My parents were supportive to a degree. I came from a school first family. My mother would tell me that she would like to me to go to college, and after that she would support me in any choice I made. (Neal)

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?

My personal Fav would have too be Broken Hearted Man – it’s close too me that’s why (Tony)

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

It was the first concert I ever went to. I had already been playing guitar, but I had not really thought of what lies ahead other than just playing guitar. After that concert I remember laying in bed that night thinking about amazing that concert was.
It left an impression on me that set my sights , and career trajectory on music as a career.(Neal)

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Ozzy, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, FFDP, Cold & David Hasselhoff (have you heard that Metal Track he did with CueStack) that songs sooo good! (Tony)

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

The opportunity to release albums. Nothing else compares in my mind. (Neal)

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

I’d Own my own motorcycle shop – wait I already do that…   astronaut?(Tony)

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

We will not be using anything usual for our shows. We hope to have a really nice light show, but other than that
I would say nothing else out of the norm.(Neal)

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?

Perspective is keen, I feel that throughout history you could always depend on Rock to feed the people with truth / that’s why we’re the Rebels we are! Good question!(Tony)

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?

I think someone would be surprised about the fact that way from music, I have a varied interest in so many thingsaway from music entirely. From the Ocean to cooking,, classic cars, and sports. (Neal)

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?

I’d say we lean towards the classic/melodic Rock side of things // think Audioslave, STP mixed with a little dash of Shinedown Pepper – But if you enjoy New Rock – Give us a taste, I know we won’t disappoint(Tony)

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

First off I’d like to say thank you for all your support. I really appreciate it. Please go to our band site Prey For Sunday
