Q & A With Silver Devil

Q & A With Silver Devil

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

Silver Devil: Right now we are rehearsing for release gig on the slaughterhouse in Stockholm on June 5th. We will play with a band called Skraeckoedlan who released his latest album at the same time as us.

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?

Silver Devil: We started in 2005, but with a different setup. Bass player and a guitar player have been replaced during the trip. But with current members since 2011.

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?

Silver Devil: Mostly just for having fun, and taking the opportunity to be creative. In today’s society, I find it difficult to find time for oneself and their own interests beyond the everyday work.

XS ROCK: What is your music background?

Silver Devil: Some of us have no direct music background. It is a combined group of schooled and self-taught musicians. The mix of it makes it exciting and everyone’s ideas are performed and tested. It does not matter if it is in the studio or the rehearsal room.

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?

Silver Devil: Something strong, heavy and dark that slowly takes over.

XS ROCK: What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

Silver Devil: We have one more album to release on Ozium Records and then the goal is to be able to get out and play on some of the big festivals. As well as getting a tour in North America. It has always been a dream to get there and play

XS ROCK: What are your long-term career goals?

Silver Devil: The goal is to keep the steam up as long as it just goes. And end up on that USA tour.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Silver Devil: Playing live, but the bit of playing. The rest around is pretty hard and energy demanding. But once you stand there and play it is unbeatable.

XS ROCK: What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Silver Devil: We would like to say that it is a reflection of when you end up completely alone with your thoughts. Good and bad, usually it starts as a small seed but the more you think about it the more it turns into something completely different.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.

Silver Devil: Pass, lol

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

Silver Devil: Oh, nothing special actually. Only the usual with signed pictures and records etc. Pretty lame, considering that it is mostly Males between 40-60 years who listens to our music, it is quite nice that there are no strange requests.

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?

Silver Devil: Yes, they have always supported us.

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?

Silver Devil: The must be Rivers, No Man Traveler, Hypersleep and Pesadilla. Pesadilla was one of the first songs we wrote.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

Silver Devil: Personally must be KISS, some of Ace’s old guitar solos are still world-class.

Q & A With Silver DevilXS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Silver Devil: Hard, but as we said before. A USA tour had been great. Maybe to go and play with bands like Windhand, Monolord or Cough would have been fantastic. It is our goal and our common dream to make such a tour.

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Silver Devil: Only that we have managed to make two albums that sold out in Sweden. Only that we have been able to cooperate and get them out is really incredible.

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

Silver Devil: Outside the band, I work as an IT consultant. I also have a small studio business where I record some different projects. So I say, producer or studio technician…

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

Silver Devil: Marshall amplifiers, Fender, Sandberg, Razor, Malmberg and Toyama guitars (love cheap Gibson copies). GHS GBZW LO strings, Valeton and BOSS pedals.

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?

Silver Devil: It’s exciting, but nothing will ever be like before. I think the big bands that have been around for a while will remain immortal and everyone will always be compared to them, such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and more.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?

Silver Devil: Some of us really love sports

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?

Silver Devil: Hard but slow Rock. The inspiration comes from mainly from the early stoner rock scene with bands like Fu Manchu and Kyuss. But there’s also a little bit of doom and black metal going on. And at the same time, we have the Swedish mellow melodies that I guess is the weather talking. In all of this, there’s always a little bit of our history with garage rock and hardcore that keeps shining through.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

Silver Devil: The future looks a lot brighter than in the past. We’ve found a great partner in Mats on Ozium Records who is a delight to work with. We really love to play again and looking forward to getting out and do more live shows. We’ve got a lot of releases coming up in the future, so it’s not going to take us seven more years for the next album. You can be sure to hear from us in the near future. Keep an eye out for us, maybe will have a show nearby you soon.
