Q & A With Reid Rogers From Knightmare

Q & A With Knightmare

Q & A With Knightmare

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

Reid: Right now, as far as Knightmare goes, we’re hard at work on our fourth full length album, which we will announce the name at a later time. We’re currently in the studio and have about 3 songs tracked for it and are expecting to release a single in the month or so, so be on the lookout! We’re very excited about it and can’t wait for everyone to hear it

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?

Reid: has been together about ten years. Anthony (bass player/lead singer), Jared (guitar) and myself formed it back in 2009 when we were fresh out of high school. I hadn’t even graduated at the time we started jamming

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?

Reid: Anthony had shown me Iron Maiden : Rock In Rio and it was like he and I instantly knew we wanted to do that! So shortly after, we started trying to see if we could write cool songs and it worked! At least we thought they were cool. Haha

XS ROCK: What is your music background?

Reid: My musical background is actually in bluegrass music. My dad is a bluegrass banjo player so I was exposed to music from the second I was born. Hearing that kind of music since I was a baby has definitely shaped my guitar playing

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?

Reid: Just to rock out and have fun. Enjoy life and get as much of it out of each day as you can

XS ROCK: What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

Reid: We are really trying to get over to Europe and to get signed to a European label

XS ROCK: What are your long-term career goals?

Reid: Long term I’d say are just like any bands. To hopefully one day make a living doing what we love which is rock and roll. To become an international touring act essentially is what our long term goal is

Q & A With KnightmareXS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Reid: Me personally, I’d have to say playing live for sure. Haha. I tend to get stressed out in the studio. Our most recent album was a lot of fun to record and the one we’re working on currently has been a blast. Mainly because of our producer, who is incredible. But yeah I’d take playing live over recording any day of the week

XS ROCK: What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Reid: Outer space, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars. A lot of fantasy and sci fi. Haha. Aliens, Mad Max. All kinds of movies and books and video games we love

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

Reid: Once we were playing a gig and a fan liked one of our songs so much, he offered us $100 to play the song again. So naturally we did. Haha

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?

Reid: We’ve been very fortunate to have supportive parents throughout this whole adventure. My mom has been my biggest support. I know the rest of the guy’s parents have as well

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?

Reid: My personal favorites to play live are the title track, Walk Through the Fire. Also I love playing SuperMoon. It’s just a very epic tune that always gets the crowd going

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

Reid: Definitely Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy. They were just great musicians who looked awesome while playing awesome music. And I just wanted to do the same thing

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Reid: Dream bill for me would have to be Iron Maiden and I’d say probably Edguy and Raven. All of those bands put on an unbelievable show and it’s some of the best music

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Reid: Greatest accomplishment for Knightmare I’d say was doing our first self put together run up to Chicago last year and actually coming back not completely broke after having the best time. Haha. Also getting to open for Quiet Riot was a pretty great accomplishment for us and something we were honored to get to do

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

Reid: To be completely honest, I don’t really know. I’d like to think I’d be working on guitars and amp or working in a recording studio! I’d like to do something in music whether I make it as a performer or not

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

Reid: I use a Ceriatone Yeti 100w head which is basically a hot rodded Marshall Plexi clone through a Wizard 4×12 cabinet. I use Gibson, Charvel and Fender guitars. Depends on the show. Haha

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?

Reid: North Carolina’s scene I always say is very overlooked. There are literally hundreds of killer rock and metal bands here and every single one has something to offer to the world.

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?

Reid: Old school heavy metal with a modern twist. We’ve been dubbed American Power Metal, which I think describes us pretty well

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

Reid: Just thank you to each and everyone of you for everything. We’d be nothing without you and we’re genuinely humbled and honored by all your love and support. We hope to be on the road heading to your town in the very near future. Be on the lookout! Keep it true and heavy \m/

XS ROCK: Thanks again for taking the time to talk with us at XSROCK!
