Another great news is we recently made a deal with Sony Music, The Orchart and Brutal  Records for digital worldwide distribution of the entire Torture Squad catalog .
XS ROCK: So how long has the band been together?
May Undead: The history of Torture Squad starts in the early 80′ years and the first release was in 1993, a demo tape called “A Soul in hell”and the Drummer Amilcar  and our bassist Castor still in the band since the beginning. I was born the same year that Torture Squad released its first demo, and the cover of A Soul in Hell” has a witch holding an ax. In October 2015 (the demo was released also in October, but in 1993) Torture Squad anouces their new lineup with me as frontwoman . I like to think  about this fact like a funny coincidence showing the future of the band with a frontwoman since the beginning, and to celebrate the band’s 25 years, we recreated this cover art in a recent photo session .
XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for originally starting or being in a band?
May Undead: It’s not easy to be on the front of a Death Metal band with 25 years on the road  (I’m 25 years old) , and Torture Squad inspires new musicians who want do walk by the same road. I was inspired by great bands leaders like David Vincent of Morbid Angel, George Fisher of Cannibal Corpse and Alex Camargo of Krisiun. I currently have two favorite vocalists of different styles that inspire me a lot: Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis . I was always a Torture Squad fan, and the band ever looks like a “Dream team” with high quality Brazilian musicians, in 2007 the band rises from the underground and win’s Wacken Open Air competition, and go tour with giants like Exodus and Overkill. histories like that inspire me a lot, and I have so many good examples to follow like my friends from Krisiun, Sepultura and Angra, and also from the new age of Brazilian Bands like Nervosa . We ever hear Histories of success  from honesty bands like that who fight and do your music seriously and put passion on their music.
XS ROCK: Tell me about your songwriting process?
May Undead: Speaking personally as a composer, I like to stimulate people’s creativity, using the imagination to create mystical worlds different from the reality in which we live. It’s hard for me to be able to talk about personal things directly in my songs, so I create or I use characters and worlds that can illustrate these feelings. In Torture Squad our music comes from different types of horror scenarios mixing this with a little of fantasy and mysticism sometimes. The horror is not only inside horror books or movies, is in our reality . Day by day we deal with death, torture and manipulation by the governments and music is a instrument to talk about this too. Recreating our vision of the world using our heroes, we can talk about Bruce lee and the might Kali entity in the same album for example.
XS ROCKWhat image do you think your music conveys?
May Undead: It’s a very powerful music, fast and brutal, but you can feel that music is made with whim , feeling and technique.
XS ROCK: What are your current music career goals?
May undead:   I really want to came back to Europe (our last time in Europe was in 2016), this time maybe for the summer festivals. We have plans to release two or tree video clips this year, and our label is helping us to go to North America first time.
XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live
May Undead:I really love the energy of the stage and to be close to the public is like breathing. To Compose is an intimate immersion that happens together with the band, and we’re at this moment with 5 new songs . It mostly comes naturally to us to compose new harmonies and melodies, It’s more easier for me to compose songs than lyrics.
