Q & A With Dom From Remember The Monsters

Q & A With Dom From Remember The Monsters
XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Dom: We’ve recently released our latest single ‘Close which has been picking up steam. We’re currently working on new music and hopefully getting some pictures up so people know what we look like.
XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?
Dom: It’s been about 3 years now. Which I guess in band time isn’t very long.
XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Dom: I’ve been playing guitar since I was 16 and idolized radio rock bands like Linkin Park and Jimmy Eat World. I thought being in a band would be the coolest thing. Turns out it’s hard work, still cool though.
XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Dom: I personally enjoy playing live shows, I love the energy of letting loose on stage and seeing the crowd enjoy our set.
XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.
Dom: One of our shows we were doing a Battle of the Bands kind of thing for the chance to open for Blink-182. The sound guy mixed up the backing tracks for two of our songs and it sounded terrible. Also, someone proposed at our first live show. I still wonder how that’s going sometimes.
XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Dom: My mom is stoked that I’m in a band and that we’re starting to get some recognition. She has this idea that I’m going to be a big rich and famous rockstar, so I guess I can’t disappoint her. Our old drummer’s parents even came to one of our shows
XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Dom: One of our old songs from when we first started out called “Romeo and Juliet” was my favorite to do live. It was a real high energy song and I enjoy moving around on stage.
XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Dom: One of my favorite bands to see live is AFI. I’ve been listening to them for a long time and they always put on an amazing show. I always know when they’re about to play my favorite song (The Days of the Phoenix).
XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Dom: I would say AFI, Coheed and Cambria, and Underoath. I would open for that in a heartbeat
XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Dom: Musically I’d say releasing a kick-ass music video that was recently featured on a Jared Dines video, and getting added to Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist. Those were pretty big for the band
XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Dom: I actually already have a pretty good career with a big company. I’m not going to say which one, but you’ve heard of it.
XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Dom: Previously I was using a Fender Stratocaster, but I’ve recently switched over to a Gibson SG with a Randall Half Cab. That was for our heavier material so I’m still experimenting with different guitars and amps. Sponsor me, please.
XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Dom: One thing I’ve learned going into it is that it’s very saturated. There’s a lot of competition out there so you really have to bring you’re ‘A’ game. Also, radio and labels work differently than they did before, with social media and online presence being a HUGE factor.
XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Dom: What my other job is and how unrelated it is to music, it’s almost like an alter ego. Also, I have an identical twin brother.
XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Dom: I’d describe our song as a heavier version of pop-rock with some electronic influence. One blog described us as “Muse meets Panic! At The Disco”. That’s pretty cool.
XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Dom: Thank you guys for all the love and support, it means a lot to us and we read every comment and watch every TikTok video you guys make! Check out our new single “Close Encounters” available on all major music services, and follow us on all the things!
