Q & A With Days To Come

Q & A With Days To Come

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

Brandon – We just released our new single Vultures and we also have crazy, zany socks. We’re excited to release our EP before the end of the year and we’re currently working on the niftiest of songs for 2020.

XS ROCK: So how long has the band been together?

Justin – I met Brandon in 2013 and the band started in 2014. Jalen joined us in 2018. We’ve gone through a few lineup changes over the years, but we’re confident in our current team.

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for originally starting or being in a band?

Justin – I’ve always loved music. Growing up, my dad and brother would always be playing or singing something. It was always around and, when I was seventeen I started playing the guitar. I knew I wanted to be in a band and perform, I just didn’t realize how much time and work it would actually take to make it a reality.

XS ROCK: What is your music background?

Jalen – I’ve pretty much been a fan of rock since I was born. However, I have an interest in anything except country.

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?

Brandon – A sense of hope and rebuilding. A lot of our lyrics hold the meaning of bettering yourself.

XS ROCK: What are your current music career goals?

Justin – I would love for Days to be what I do full time. That takes years and a mountain of work, but I’m patient. My more immediate (and continual) goal is to continue to connect with our audience, forge relationships, and write music that connects on a deep level.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Brandon – Playing live every day. Some songs I dread playing when we practice, but the atmosphere of the stage and the crowd really redirect the mood of the song to an electrified moment.

XS ROCK: What are your songs’ lyrics about?

Justin – I love it when someone feels encouraged or inspired. A lot of the lyrical content is about moving past something and being better because of the experience.

XS ROCK: What is the single most important thing to you as a musician?

Justin – Batteries. Without them, things will literally not turn on.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.

Jalen – You get the crazy fanatics every now and then, but nothing too out of the blue so far.

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

Brandon – Yeahiaintgotsomethingforthat.

XS ROCK: Are your friends and family supportive of your choice to play in a rock band?

Jalen – Absolutely! Which makes being part of a band so much easier when everyone is on board with you.

XS ROCK: What advice do you have for new bands trying to get started?

Justin – Be patient and know what you want to do. Not just doing something because “that’s how it’s done”, but actually knowing what you’re about and who you’re growing to connect with.

There are a lot of people in the world and most of them won’t like what you do. Just being honest. Don’t focus on those people. Continue to find your audience.

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?

Brandon – Vultures. There so much going on within the song and it sounds so full when we play it. It’s just a nice song.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

Brandon – Devin Townsend. His demeanor on stage just boosts my personality in order to connect with people live.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Jalen – Sevendust, A Perfect Circle, Breaking Benjamin, and Pearl Jam for sure!

Q & A With Days To ComeXS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Justin – Connecting with someone through our music. That means they took the time to listen to the music, learn the lyrics, and let me know how it made them feel. The listener don’t have to do that, and it’s so special when they do.

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

Jalen – Probably a graphic designer.

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

Brandon – Ibanez guitars, Curt Mangan strings, Marshall Amps, and an assortment of the neatest pedals.

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?

Justin – I feel hopeful. We’re living in the golden age of the indie artist. We’re able to accomplish so much and connect with so many people because of technology.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?

Jalen – I’m a house hermit that just plays video games all day.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

Justin – Stream our new single Vultures and keep an eye out for our EP! We’re so thankful for all of the support you continue to give us and we’ll never take that for granted.

XS ROCK: Thanks again for taking the time to talk with us at XS ROCK!
