Q & A With Break My Fall

Q & A With Break My Fall

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Darren: We are about to release our first single and video. We’re playing Trees Saturday December 22d and Rocklahoma in the spring of 2019.

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?
Jason: We have been together for about one year now but we’ve all known each other and been fans of each other prior to staring this band.

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Jared: Our motivation was seeing live bands and wanting to go out and perform.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Matthew: We try love both because they’re both totally necessary to do be a musician in a band. The studio is kind of like the work and the live performance is like the fun for us.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road?
Darren: Some people wandered into our dressing room backstage and wiped out the food and drinks. We actually thought that was pretty funny though.

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Jared: Someone asked us to go to an elementary school and sing happy birthday to their kid. That was definitely not one of the usual request!

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Jason: Yes, definitely. They always encouraged and supported my interest in playing.

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Darren: Our first single “Light it Up” is probably our favorite at the moment. This song always works with an audience and we love playing it.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Matthew: Metallica, Tool, and Foo Fighters are probably some of the top artist that inspired us. Their song writing integrity and great live performances make you want to be better at what you do as a musician.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Jared: Shinedown, Metallica, Avenged Seven Fold, we love all these bands.

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Jason: Starting this band together, all great guys to work with.

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Jared Bishop: When you have a dream to be a musician, nothing else can really compensate for that.

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Ernie Ball, PRS, Mesa Boogie, Darkglass, Mapex, Shure

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Matthew: We love it, there’s something out there for everyone and it’s usually pretty easy to find.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Jason: That we like all music genres, it just has to have talent.

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Darren: It’s modern rock/metal that’s accessible and crosses some genres. It’s heavy when it needs to be and melodic at the same time.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Jared: Please check out Break My Falls new video for “Light it Up” and come see us when we’re in your town.

XS ROCK: Thanks again for taking the time to talk with XS Rock!
