Q & A With Blind Scryer

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

Blind Scryer: Album release March 29th, 2019 @ Odeon Louisville with Archarus and Shi.  Lucifer & Spell March 19th @ Cosmic Charlie’s Lexington. Ride the Sun Tour March 26-30th.

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?

Blind Scryer: 3 years

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?

Blind Scryer:  Love of the riff. To play loud music we like – stoner rock.

XS ROCK: What is your music background?

Blind Scryer: All members have played in various local music scenes over the years in Louisville and elsewhere. Blair comes from the WV scene.

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?

Blind Scryer:  Something in the realm of fortune telling, apocalyptic omens, doom of mankind, dystopian future, etc.

XS ROCK: What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

Blind Scryer: Tour. Write and record new EP.

XS ROCK: What are your long-term career goals?

Blind Scryer:  Continue to write music and expand our outreach and tour schedule.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Blind Scryer:  Depends on who you ask but our strong suit is definitely the live show.

XS ROCK: What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Blind Scryer: Same as question 5 with some personal insights from Blair.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.

Blind Scryer: We’ve had mainly great experiences on the road. We have played in some very strange, small venues with only bar regulars in attendance. Lets just say we weren’t their cup of tea.

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

Blind Scryer: Luckily nothing too unusual. Make us an offer.

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?

Blind Scryer:  Yes. Some of our parents are musicians and the others are extremely supportive.

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?

Blind Scryer: Blind Scryer, Snake Handler, Backslide are fun, but honestly we enjoy them all.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

Blind Scryer:  Where do we start? Black Sabbath, Weedeater, The Obsessed, The Stooges, Melvins, Blue Oyster Cult.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Blind Scryer: Good question. It would be great to support a killer headliner like Fu Manchu or Weedeater with some friends like Horseburner or Archarus.

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Blind Scryer:  Being asked to open for E.H.G, Weedeater, The Obsessed without even having a record out.

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

Blind Scryer: We all have day jobs, so probably the same, life would just be more boring and less busy.

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

Blind Scryer: Orange, Laney, Eden Amplifiers. Sunn, Marshall, Mesa Cabinets. Fender, Gibson, Reverend Guitars/Bass. Sonor & Ludwig Drums. Paiste cymbals.

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?

Blind Scryer: As far as the stoner rock/doom genre is concerned, we feel it’s growing and we’re excited to be a part of it. There are a TON of great bands out there right now.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?

Blind Scryer: We managed to gig (mostly bars) for nearly 2 years with one member who was under 21 years old.

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?

Blind Scryer: If Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden had a baby at Uncle Acid’s house you would get something like Blind Scryer.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

Blind Scryer: Check out our debut self-titled record, upcoming March tour dates and album release show (March 29th @ Odeon Louisville) and……
