Q & A With Antony Quinn From Hosemen

Q & A With Antony Quinn From Hosemen

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?

Quinn: Our album is finally going to be released on April 19th along with a do it yourself music video for our song Hollow Man. We have a couple of small gigs coming up, one at Garcias in Port Chester NY on April 18th

XS ROCK:How long has the band been together?

Quinn: has been together for about 2 and a half years now!

XS ROCK:What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?

Quinn: There’s absolutely no better feeling in the world then creating music with other people and actually being good at it! It’s just something we have to do!

XS ROCK:What is your music background?

Quinn: Brien (bass) has been playing guitar since 6th grade after listening and being inspired by Metallicas Kill Em All! I was always wanted to be a guitar shredder but ended up in Hosemen as the bass player haha.

XS ROCK:What image do you think your music conveys?

Quinn: Our music Conveys honesty and I say that because all of our songs are very personal to Anthony Quinn Carpanzanos life. (lead Guitar/ Vocals)

XS ROCK:What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

Quinn: We want to sell as many records we can and play as many shows as possible. Hopefully play outside of the east coast and open for bigger named bands. Always to play bigger and better stages as well.

XS ROCK:What are your long-term career goals?

Quinn: Our long term goals are to make a reasonable living off of music and have people familiar with what we do. None of us want to work a 9 to 5 anymore.

XS ROCK:Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?

Quinn: I love playing live shows. There is no better feeling in the world then a crowd of bobbing heads watching you as you do your thing on that stage especially if they enjoy it and most people do! Writing new songs is always a challenge but we still enjoy it as well.

XS ROCK:What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Quinn: Our songs are about personal life experiences for example our song Mush is about a Mushroom trip in New York City that Quinn experienced with four of his buddies. Sickness is about the feeling you get when your head over heels about someone and you live through being sick if there not there anymore. So I would say our specific theme is life experiences.

XS ROCK:Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.

Quinn: We haven’t truly “been on the road yet” but we always have a great time when we play new venues. We try to respect everywhere we go so we nothing to crazy except our boy getting kicked out of a venue for being to drunk. Nothing to crazy.

XS ROCK:What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?

XS ROCK:Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?

Quinn: Always but told me eventually I can’t do it forever.

XS ROCK:What are your favorite tracks to play live?

Quinn: MUSH because it has so much going on and takes you into a journey unlike the other songs.

XS ROCK:Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?

Quinn: Stone Temple Pilots because of Scott Weilands dance moves!

XS ROCK:If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?

Quinn: Preferably new upcoming bands because I’m tired of main stream metal bands like Disturbed, Godsmack, and Five Finger Death Punch headlining shitty festivals still. Time to move on and let these shite bands go.

XS ROCK:What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Quinn: Our last show was pretty epic! We played with Liege Lord and Leeway from NYC. I think around 300 people attended and we had a pretty big crowd for a local band. Our album is going to knock your pink socks off.

XS ROCK:If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?

Quinn: I’d be a photographer or a house painter still. Painting houses sucks but photography is pretty cool! www.Brienadamsphotogrpahy.com theres my website!

XS ROCK:What type of equipment do you use for live shows?

Quinn: Fretted amplifications and Fender strat for guitars, GK bass speakers/head with fender bass, and I think Wade uses APEX drums?

XS ROCK:What do you think of the current music scene?

Quinn: It’s either clicky or cocky. Some bands think so highly of themselves because of how many likes they get on social media but when its time to play the attendance vs social media ratio is way off. Meaning they get more likes on Instagram then heads at shows. Also I hear this all the time “You guys are great but having two different genres of music would be weird at our show” which to me is bullshit because who wants to listen to 3 similar acts for 3 hours anyways. The show would be more interesting with a punk act, a metal act, and an alternative act or etc. Diversity is great! It all depends on your location too, I won’t point any fingers but I’ve seen some funny shit from people. However we do make a lot of great people in the scene and we always try to include everywhere I just wish people were more honest with each other.

XS ROCK:For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?

Quinn: My favorite band is Oasis. hahaha

XS ROCK:If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?

Quinn: People say we sound like The Cure mixed with 90 alternative? I always tell people we have traces of metal, punk, and rock but when I say that they assume we sound like Slipknot and scream at the top of our lungs. So I just tell them to come find out for yourself.

XS ROCK:Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?

Quinn: Pre Order our album here http://hosemen.bandcamp.com and if you want to listen to the whole thing Ill send you the music through email. I just want people to listen and give it a chance no matter the price. Donate if you can!
