Imagine the late 70’s, early 80’s Heart made a pact with the devil himself. Now add a little bit of Black Sabbath to that sound and a little dash of traditional heavy metal in the mix and you’ve got a formula that’s really damn close to the band Lucifer. I can’t get over how much fun this album is to listen to. The beautiful vocals of Johanna Sadonis set over the top of a gritty, down and dirty rock soundtrack that perfectly complements one another. This album is seriously contagious and I absolutely love it! The album is damn near perfect from start to finish and has a really nice cohesive flow to the songs. It’s modern retro rock with a dash of evil. I find this to be far superior to a band like Ghost if you’re going to mix the devil in your rock n’ roll. Starting out with the song “Ghosts”, Lucifer hits their stride immediately. With outstanding tracks like “Midnight Phantom”, “Lucifer”, and the very “Heart-like”, “Stay Astray” the band delivers one of the best rock albums that I’ve had the privilege to listen to in 2020. If you haven’t heard Lucifer yet, I urge you to go check this out. It’s a great throw-back rock sound that demands to be heard. Lucifer III will be on the rock critics’ top ten 2020 lists, you can count on it!
