Netflix has announced the following on the BTS live stream:
It’s time to dust off that light stick — BTS is officially back. For the first time in three years (and nine months, but who’s counting?), the septet is making their highly anticipated return to the stage to perform live globally on Netflix, included in all plans.
Audiences and fans will see RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook take back the stage as a unit for a performance in Seoul’s historic Gwanghwamun Square. They’ll share the first live performances of songs off their upcoming fifth studio album, ARIRANG, among others. The long-awaited record will be released on March 20, the day before the performance.
And because we’ll definitely need something to stave off the post-show sads, BTS: THE RETURN, a BTS documentary film showcasing the making of ARIRANG, arrives on Netflix on March 27. (Guess we have no choice but to take the week off.)
When is BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG streaming on Netflix?
BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG will stream live exclusively on Netflix on March 21.
What time is the BTS live performance?
8 p.m. KST
4 a.m. PT / 7 a.m. ET
Following the live performance, the band will embark on the ARIRANG World Tour, which will span 34 regions and feature 82 shows across the globe.
Where is BTS performing live?
The performance will be streamed live on Netflix from Gwanghwamun, the main gate of the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul.
Why did BTS go on hiatus?
BTS’s hiatus was driven by South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements. In December 2022, the BTS members put their wildly successful careers on hold as each enlisted for up to 18 months of mandatory military service. As some members left for enlistment, others released various solo work in their own time. Jin and j-hope were discharged in 2024, and RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook were discharged in early June 2025. SUGA was the last member to be discharged on June 21, 2025.
What’s the BTS documentary about?
From acclaimed director Bao Nguyen (The Stringer, The Greatest Night in Pop) and renowned producers This Machine (Martha, Karol G) and HYBE comes BTS: THE RETURN. The feature-length documentary serves as a companion to the live performance and chronicles the long-awaited return of BTS and the making of their fifth studio album, ARIRANG. The film offers rare behind-the-scenes access as the group comes back together and charts an unprecedented path forward together after a nearly four-year hiatus.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has reached extraordinary levels of success and built ARMY — a fan base that has taken on everything from philanthropic work to politics, and it’s more organized than the actual military. After completing their mandatory military service, the seven members meet up in Los Angeles to make music together. They return to a shared creative space after being shaped by time apart and personal change. For their next chapter, they reflect on their whirlwind past as they contemplate what the future of BTS will look and sound like. BTS: THE RETURN offers an intimate look at the performers as they work through doubt and share in moments of laughter and rediscovery. BTS contemplates how to begin again, how to honor the past without being bound by it, and how to define an ever-evolving identity as the bandmates grow as artists and global icons.
When is the new BTS album coming out?
The group’s fifth studio album, ARIRANG, will be released on March 20, the day before the live performance on Netflix.
