Review:

Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra’s new album is a hard-rocking effort that will take you back to the days when classic bands like Rainbow, Dio, and yes, Whitesnake ruled the airwaves. It’s great to hear vocalist Russell Allen belt out great songs like Finish Line, I’m Gonna Lose It, Hard To Say Goodbye, Heart Attack, and Fantasy. The combination of Allen’s excellent vocals and Hoekstra’s incendiary guitar licks make this album sound pretty epic. With albums like this one, Joel Hoekstra gets the chance to strut his stuff and he doesn’t miss a beat. Bluesy at times and technically proficient throughout, Hoekstra shows why he’s been in some of the best bands around. Running Games has a little bit of everything with heavy rockers, soulful ballads and the title track has a nice jazzy feel to it. For fans of the classic hard rock and metal sound, like myself, Running Games is pure gold. Be sure and check this one out when it releases on February 12, 2021.
