XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Nate: Our new single “Live, Laugh, Lobotomy is the first song from our new EP called “Blur”, which will be releasing early 2023. We are already gearing up and writing new music to follow that up, and we currently are booked out with shows through April of next year. We are hoping to follow up our most successful year yet with another one that will hopefully be even bigger and better! We couldn’t be more stoked for what 2023 has to offer!
XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?
Nate: We just hit our 5 year anniversary as of September 1st, 2022!
XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Nate: We have all shared a passion for music from an extremely young age. Seeing our first shows really changed the way we felt about music as a whole and created this burning desire within us to become something greater. This very same passion unexpectedly brought the 4 of us together.
XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Nate: This would be an even tie for us. We are constantly writing new material and we love creating together as a band. We also love sharing that with a live audience. There’s something really special about bringing what you have spent so much time, effort, and emotion to create to life in a live setting.
XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.
Nate: Our most outrageous story to date would be when Nate and Alan did the Paqui “One Chip Challenge”. I don’t think there has been more suffering (even on our worst days) than at this moment in time. If you aren’t familiar, search “Paqui One Chip Challenge” on Youtube and see what the fuss is about!
XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Nate: One of our fans asked us for money to pay his rent. If you know anything about the financial strains of being in a band, a band is probably the LAST place you should look for a personal loan!
XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Nate: Some of us had parents who encouraged us from the beginning, and the rest of us had to work a lot harder to gain their favor. The coolest part about that though is that the parents that were supportive have almost become like 2nd Moms and Dads along our musical journies.
XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Nate: The Yeti, The Man Who Laughs and Love Language tend to end up on the majority of our setlists. We are very much looking forward to incorporating some of our new material into future sets to see which ones jive best
XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Architects, The Ghost Inside, Polaris, Underoath, Heart in Hand. All of these bands have a really special uniqueness and energy that they bring to the table unlike any other bands we have ever heard before.
XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Nate: AFI / Thrice / Periphery / Counterparts / Architects
XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Nate: Getting to play our very first festival at Blue Ridge Rock Festival and booking the entire tour there on our own. The entire thing was so surreal and magical, I’m sure we all wish we could go back and re-live it. Hoping to come back and play again in 2023!
XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Nate: Business Consultant
Chris: Professional Racer
Stan Neill: Regional Sales Manager
Alan: Audio Engineer
XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Nate: We have a pretty minimal setup:
Vocals – Sennheiser Evolution 900 / Sennheiser Wireless Mic
Drums – Gretsch Kit
Guitars – ESP LTD MH 1000 6 strings / Kiesel Custom 7 String / ESP LTD HC-1007
Amps – 2×12 Orange cab / 2×12 EVH cab / EVH Gold and Black 50 watt head / EVH Stealth 50 watt head
Rack – Backtrack unit for samples and wireless mic receiver
XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Nate: Currently music seems to be absolutely booming overall, especially with the covid restrictions ending. People seem to be way more grateful to have bands touring and being able to socialize with friends again. Within our genre we feel that it is starting to get a little stagnant and we really want to do our best to change that.
XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Nate: One thing that our new listeners may not know is that Preacher is a DIY band. We produce all our own designs, music, and social media content in-house. You can always expect something new from us. We never want to be the band that comes out with music and the response to be “That sounds just like their last album”. We are constantly changing things up and doing our best to make sure that we never get stagnant and maintain a sound that is distinctly us
XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Nate: We will leave this one up to the fans! One fan in particular wrote the following comment on our Youtube channel and we think this is some of the best feedback we have gotten thus far!
XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Nate: If you’re still here with us, thank you for all of the love and support you continue to give each and every day! It means the absolute world to us <3 <3 <3. If you are new to the Preacher world, welcome to the family!!
