Fans of Sleep Token and Ghost should check out Under Black Sky. XS ROCK got the scoop on the band and their upcoming new album below:
Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows, or announcements?
Absolutely. We’re currently in the middle of launching our debut concept album, Bad Blood, dropping October 24. It’s not just a record — it’s a chapter in an evolving cinematic narrative we call The Order Beneath. We’ve already released the first single, FIREFLY, and follow-ups I’LL SHOW YOU and PULL THROUGH are rolling out leading into the full album.
We’re also building a live show experience that’s part concert, part purge. A multi-sensory onslaught — masks, glitch visuals, codex symbols, the whole world we’ve been teasing… it’s coming to life. Expect tour announcements soon.
How long has the band been together?
We’ve been building this project for the last few years — shaping the sound, refining the vision, crafting the storyline. But Under Black Sky as you know it now fully emerged in 2023, when we committed to taking everything to the next level and making this more than just a band. It’s a movement. A message. And it’s only growing.
What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
It was passion, it was survival. All of us have been through some dark seasons — isolation, betrayal, mental collapse. Music was the only way to process it, to scream into the void and feel something echo back. Starting this band was a way to turn the pain into power, and to give that back to others who feel like they’re on the edge.
Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Both are powerful in their own way — but live shows are where the purge happens. That’s where the energy transfers, where fans become part of the world. You feel the emotion hit in real time. But the writing? That’s where the soul of it starts. That’s where the scars get turned into songs.
Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.
Let’s just say there’s a hotel somewhere in North America we left some funny memories for the late night security guy. We finished up a late show, no sleep, gear half-broken, and still somehow tore the roof off a dive bar that shouldn’t have had a stage. The crowd was rabid.
Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Some of us had support, others had to fight tooth and nail just to be heard. But once the music started connecting with people, even the skeptics started to understand — this isn’t just noise. This is purpose.
What are your favorite tracks to play live?
“Parasite” and “Devil Is Me” go hard live — total chaos. But we feel “I’ll Show You” will become a crowd anthem. The chorus like a personal war cry. And when we drop “Bad Blood” on stage? Let’s just say that’s when the purge really begins.
Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Nine Inch Nails for the rawness. Slipknot for the theater. Bad Omens for the modern sonic evolution. And Linkin Park for making emotional vulnerability powerful. They each taught us something about the balance between pain, power, and performance.
If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Thats a tough one!!! So many amazing acts we would be honored to play with …..
Under Black Sky
Metallica , Slipknot, Wage War, Bad Omens, Spiritbox, Sleep Token
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Building a world that fans want to live in. The love we have received so far has been huge! But more than that — it’s the fans messaging us saying “your lyrics said what I couldn’t say.” That’s the real accomplishment. We turned pain into community.
If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Honestly? Probably a career designed to empower others to live their best lives. Beast would probably be designing horror games, directing dystopian films, or locked in a basement scribbling codex symbols on the walls. LOL
What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
We run a hybrid rig — digital and analog — built for precision and chaos.
- Kemper, Tech21, and Neural DSP for guitars, Pearl drums
- Vocal FX run through live glitch processors and control pads
- And of course… masks, symbols, strobes, and pre-show transmissions from The Voice of the Order
What do you think of the current music scene?
It’s noisy, fast, and ruthless — but wide open. Artists have the power now. You don’t need a label if you have a story, a sound, and a strategy. The current scene is a battleground… but we’re not here to blend in. We’re here to bleed into it.
For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
We’re not just musicians. We’re builders — of worlds, of stories, of identities. And everything we do — from merch to music to visuals — is connected. People might think it’s all just creepy aesthetics. But it’s not. It’s healing… dressed as chaos.
If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Cinematic hard rock for the broken and defiant.
Heavy. Emotional. Anthemic. Like a soundtrack for the collapse… and the comeback.
Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
