XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Kristof: The new album is going to be released on March 18th. New music video is being filmed March 6th. We perform at WGT in Germany in June and go on tour in North America in July.

XS ROCK: So how long has the band been together?
Kristof: Dawn of Ashes has been established since 2001.

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for originally starting or being in a band?
Kristof: Since my early teens I had an ambition to become a professional musician from inspiration from bands in the 90s. I have always have a huge drive to proceed with this type of career.

XS ROCK: What is your music background?
Kristof: I come from being in various Metal and Hardcore bands in the 90s and have been a music producer since the early 2000s

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?
Kristof: Various Horror themes which compliments the music.

XS ROCK: What are your current music career goals?
Kristof: In this age it seems hard to have a specific goal besides surviving as a musician, but overall I would like to get to a level where I am satisfied with our success.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Kristof: I enjoy both equally.

XS ROCK: What are your songs’ lyrics about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Kristof: Depends on the album. There are various subjects that seem to cause some sort of reaction. It can be either a negative or a positive reaction.

XS ROCK: What is the single most important thing to you as a musician?
Kristof: That I keep going and keep progressing as a musician. Some sort of success means all to me in this business.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road? If so, please fill us in.
Kristof: Too many. I remember a time when we were performing in Florida and our live keyboardist had a real kitchen knife in a mannequin head. I grabbed the knife and threw it on the ground. I was moving around and I kept feeling pain in my foot. I looked down and the knife went through my boot and through my foot. I took the knife out of my foot and finished the show. After I had to get my foot super glued shut. Also have had fans have sex on my boot while I was performing.

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Kristof: Again too many. A fan wanted to jerk off with my liquid latex that came off my body and then have me sleep over.
I have had girl fans that wanted to be my ego stepper on stage. Basically they would be on there hands and knees and I would step on them. Very interesting.

XS ROCK: Are your friends and family supportive of your choice to play in a rock band?
Kristof: For the most part.

XS ROCK: What advice do you have for new bands trying to get started?
Kristof: Lower your expectations and get thick skin.

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Kristof: Spirit of anger, Poisoning the steps of Babel, Serpents of Eden, Insidious, are a few.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Kristof: Nine Inch Nails, Hatebreed, and Dimmu Borgir.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Kristof: Dawn of Ashes and Nine Inch Nails

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Kristof: There are a lot. Overall, surviving this long after 21 years.

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Kristof: Horror Special FX

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Kristof: The band uses various synths, Accoustic Drums, guitars, electronic drums. I don’t personally use a lot as a vocalist.

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Kristof: I think it’s not like how it used to be.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Kristof: That socially awkward introvert.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Kristof: Thank you for the support and we hope you all enjoy the new album and see you soon when we go on tour.
