XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news. Are any new projects coming out, live shows, or announcements?
Erin: We have released our album and are excited to promote it. Currently working with promoters on upcoming show dates.
XS ROCK: So how long has the band been together?
Erin: LSD started in 2020, and I joined in 2021. We are a mix of metal, punk, pop, and Southern rock music and it just works!
XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for originally starting or being in a band?
Erin: I’ve been singing, acting, and dancing since I was 7 years old, so it’s in my blood. I’ve performed with other groups and solo, but rock music has my soul and Love Sick Drug is my family. We have been really blessed to have such a loyal fan base for being an indie band from Dallas.
XS ROCK: What are your current music career goals?
Erin: We plan on doing bigger shows and working on new music. The goal is to get on the road with a big name. My lead guitar player, Lew Morris works his butt off getting the business side going for us. We appreciate him so much.
XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Erin: Both aspects of it are a thrill. Creating is such a cool feeling and when it works and people like it, it’s so satisfying. But for me performing live is magic. There’s no other feeling like it. Touching that many people all at once- it’s a rush.
XS ROCK: What are your songs’ lyrics about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
Erin: We have some that are on love, some that are more about being true to yourself, and some that just really get you pumped! A little bit of something for all.
XS ROCK: What is the single most important thing to you as a musician?
Erin: Music and singing are like oxygen to me. I cannot imagine my life without it. There’s even science that backs music as pure therapy. You feel it in your soul.
XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Erin: Ha! Well, we are a rock band, so we get some pretty weird things thrown at us. We try to accommodate our fans but if it gets weird, I usually just introduce them to my guitar player Billy Blair-he spent a lot of time in LA, and has a way with the freaky ones. Hahaha!
XS ROCK: Are your friends and family supportive of your choice to play in a rock band?
Erin: They are now. It took a while for me I think because I’ve been a model for so long. People sometimes don’t get it. They look at me and think I should be in pink dresses at tea parties all day- but I have an edgy side. Women should not be put into one box. We are capable of doing so many things. I’m really lucky that I get to work with a team that allows me to be all the things and accepts me whether I’m in an evening gown or in my rocker gear on stage. And as an entertainer, you have to be a chameleon and adapt.
XS ROCK: What advice do you have for new bands trying to get started?
Erin: Wow, that’s a loaded question- I think you really have to love it and have a passion for your craft. If you’re in it to make a bunch of money/ you are in the wrong field. Art is subjective and you deal with a lot of criticism but if you love it, you push through. Having a great team is also key. My drummer, Chris Carnage, and bass player, Fernando Salas were actually “drafted” from a side band, and honestly, I cannot imagine anyone else doing their job. They both are ridiculously talented.
XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Erin: “The Trail”, “LSD”, “Zombies”, and “Can’t You See” are my favorites and the crowd seems to like those too. I love it when they sing along and start jumping. I keep threatening to crowd-surf! The guys are like “Erin. No. Just no.” Hahahaha!
XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Erin: I grew up listening to my Dad singing and playing guitar to Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly. It’s been a part of me since I was a little girl. Rock music just makes me feel alive.
XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Erin: I would kill to play with Halestorm, Shinedown, Hollywood Undead, Motley Crue, and so many more. I even like some Nickleback and Bon Jovi, and recently discovered Nothing More- the range of his voice is crazy!
XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Erin: I’m a hustler, so I try not to dwell on things I’ve already done. Keeps me motivated and reminds me that I can’t stop. But I am grateful to have gotten 2 covers for FHM magazine and a few other fashion magazines recently. I keep trying to promote my band in all my model stuff. They are probably wondering why I’m pushing my music and not discussing shoes and makeup haha!
XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Erin: I have always known I wanted to perform. I can’t think of anything else. 😉
XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Erin: I can tell you this. Rock is not (and has never been) dead. The media has just been so hyper-focused on pop and rap for so long. But rock bands keep selling out stadiums. Rock music is storytelling. It touches you differently.
XS ROCK: For anyone who doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Erin: I used to play football. Will save that tidbit for the next interview. LOL
XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Erin: Thank you to each and every one of you who supports us and believes in us. Every single time we see you at our shows and get messages from you in our social media it gives us meaning and we love you. I have actually cried reading some of the messages and after shows, because I’m filled with so much love… thank you from the bottom of my heart.
XS ROCK: Thanks again for taking the time to talk with us at XS ROCK!
