Nitzer Ebb Live Concert Review

Nitzer Ebb May 20, 2019 Tampa, Florida The Orpheum Review by: Bobby Caughron   Review: When I heard that Nitzer Ebb was doing a U.S. Tour in 2019, I was determined to catch one of their live dates and see the band in action.  Nitzer Ebb, are performing as a duo on this tour with founding members Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris.  Personally, I have always thought of these two guys as Nitzer Ebb anyway, and I think most fans recognize them as the core of the band. Nitzer Ebb was the first band that really caught my attention that was outside of the traditional rock scene.  The band released their album "That Total Age" back in 1987.  I was simply blown away by the uniqueness of their sound.  Nitzer Ebb has a genuine place in music history alongside bands like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Front 242 that started what...

John Corabi Brings The Power To The Music With His Live Show

John Corabi February 23, 2019 Sarasota, Florida The Five O'Clock Club Review by: Bobby Caughron                                                                                                                                              Review: John Corabi performs an all acoustic set in Sarasota Florida. I have been a big fan of John Corabi's work for years.  He first came to my attention with the band "The Scream" upon the the release of their debut album in 1991.  John's the kind of guy who commands attention with powerful vocals.  So much so, that the legendary Motley Crue hand picked...

Don’t “Wait” To Catch Mike Tramp’s Live Show

Mike Tramp February 23, 2019 Sarasota, Florida The Five O'Clock Club Review by: Bobby Caughron Review: Mike Tramp is a singer that I’ve been familiar with for many years. I had the original "Fight To Survive” album by White Lion back when they were virtually unknown. That changed quickly with the release of White Lion "Pride" in 1987. The band saw a huge following in the 80’s that continued on into the early 90’s before the group eventually disbanded. While Mike Tramp has been involved in several other great bands since including Freaks Of Nature, it’s worth noting that he’s spent most of the years since then developing and concentrating on his own solo career. In fact Tramp is set to release his 11th solo album called "Stray From The Flock" on March 1st. Tramp took the stage around 9:30 pm at the Five O’ Clock Club for an all...

Sebastian Bach Concert Review

Sebastian Bach November 3, 2018 Sarasota, Florida The White Buffalo Saloon Review by: Bobby Caughron Review: So any one riding the current trend that pop and hip-hop have taken over music and rock n' roll is dead, certainly wasn't at the Sebastian Bach concert this weekend.  Sebastian and his band ripped through a greatest hits collection that had the crowd on their feet for the entire concert.  Over the years, Bach has been quite an animated fellow and really charismatic front man, and Saturday's show was no exception.  He interacted with the entire audience throughout the night and provided more energy than most band members that are half his age.  If you need proof that rock music is alive and well, look no further.  Bach took the crowd on a nostalgic trip that covered most of his career hits and also did some deeper album cuts as well.  Of course...

Blacktop Mojo Live Concert Review

Review: Blacktop Mojo performed an incredible set during their live performance in Sarasota, Fl.  I caught up with the band just prior to the show and sat down and talked with lead vocalist Matt James about the band's tour and more.  The band took the stage around 10 PM and simply blew the doors off of the place. They performed their hits "Where The Wind Blows", "Burn The Ships" and "Pyromaniac" as well as some great cover versions of The Black Crowe's "She Talks To Angels" and "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. They also gave the ecstatic crowd two new songs including a fantastic rocker called "All Mine Now".  The band kept a great pace throughout the show and played with an incredible amount of energy.  Guitarists Ryan Kiefer and Chuck Wepfer displayed exceptional skill as they both took turns with explosive leads, while bass guitarist Matt Curtis...

Budderside Live Concert Review

Budderside February 9, 2018 Tampa, Florida The Brass Mug Review by: Bobby Caughron Review: Motorhead Music, the record label started by the late Lemmy Kilmister and the members of Motorhead, signed the band Budderside as their first act on the label. You can't get any better than being hand-picked by the boys in Motorhead. Naturally, I wanted to catch Budderside perform live and I got my chance recently in Tampa, FL. Budderside took the stage around 9:30 pm to an eager and enthusiastic audience. The band opened with the song "Open Relationship" and the crowd jumped to their feet. Lead singer Patrick Stone is quite the charismatic frontman with an incredible voice. Bass player Michael Stone was energetic and animated throughout the whole show. Drummer Rich Sacco has to be the happiest guy I've ever seen behind a drum kit. He had a smile on his face the entire night...

L.A. Guns Reunion Concert Tour Review

L.A. Guns Reunion Concert February 9, 2018 Tampa, Florida The Brass Mug Review: When I heard that the almighty L.A. Guns were doing a reunion tour to support their latest album 'The Missing Peace" I jumped at the chance to see Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns on the same stage together again. The first time that I saw the band perform was almost 30 years ago. They were coming off of their (now classic) self titled debut album. I still remember that concert vividly. The band was filled with energy and played a lengthy set to a sold out audience.   Fast forward to present time and the band takes the stage with the same energy and enthusiasm that I saw years earlier. Phil Lewis still knows how to work a crowd into a frenzy and Tracii played as good of a set as I've ever seen. The performance was primarily...

Leaves Eyes – Concert Review

Leaves Eyes May 20, 2017 Ybor City, (Tampa) Florida The Orpheum Review: When I heard the news that Leaves Eyes were coming to a venue near me, I was already ready for a road trip. This would be my first time witnessing the band perform live, after being a fan for quite some time. When I arrived at the Orpheum, the line to get in was about a city block long and seemed to just keep growing. Eventually, the announcement was made that the venue had reached capacity and was sold out. I watched many fans leave disappointed that there was no possibility of watching the show. Now, of course this is not the fault of the Orpheum. Local fire marshals have ordinances in place to limit the occupancy of buildings in case of a fire or other emergencies. I was completely bummed out. I had just driven for about...

Overkill Live Concert Review

Supporting the release of their 18th (18th!) release, The Grinding Wheel, Overkill is back in Arizona to fuck shit up. Unfortunately, they are at a venue that seems to have been going downhill quality-wise for the past few years, but even so, I still can never resist catching the guys wherever they play. The band wasted no time hitting the stage and laying waste to those in attendance. "Mean Green Killing Machine", "Rotten to the Core" and "Electric Rattlesnake" come tearing out from the stage first, and the crowd is already sweaty and swirling. What I always admired about an Overkill show is that they never forgot where they started or who they are, demonstrated by always including old school gems such as "Feel the Fire" and "Hammerhead" in the setlist. More times than not, bands forget their roots, trying too hard to stay 'popular' and their setlists show that....

Ace Frehley Live Concert Review

Ace Frehley January 28, 2017 Tempe, Arizona Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ace Frehley came to the dusty desert of Arizona last month and rocked the packed house of the Marquee. Fans ranged from seven to 77 it seemed, reminding you just what an impact he has had in his career. It's easy to forget that fellow musicians such as Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag, John 5, Marty Friedman and James Hetfield, among countless others, have many times cited him as an influence on their own techniques and styles while they were still developing. The band immediately tore in to "Parasite" and were off and running. The crowd erupted upon hearing the signature Ace riffs. While the performance and energy of the band was phenomenal and highly energetic, if there has to be one shortcoming of the gig it's that the band isn't changing up the setlist much. With the...

Jack Russell’s Great White Prove They’re The Real Deal

Jack Russell's Great White October 7, 2016 Englewood, Florida Englewood Event Center Concert Review: When I heard that Jack Russell's Great White was going to be performing nearby, I was excited but skeptical. Why? You ask? Well, I have heard all kinds of stories about the legendary singer, from people bashing him and writing him off as washed up and  others referring to Jack Russell as a dead man walking because of his addiction problems. As most of you know, Great White separated into two bands in 2011, with Jack Russell forming his version and Mark Kendall, Audie Desbrow and Michael Lardie continuing on with former XYZ vocalist, Terry Ilous.  So, how did Jack's version of Great White do, you ask? Let me start by addressing one of the rumors that I've heard, and that's Jack Russell is touring with a group of average musicians and just cashing in on...

Heart /Joan Jett/Cheap Trick Concert Review

The Rock Hall Three for All tour was a night of pure classic rock celebrations that came through Arizona recently. Heart with Joan Jett and opening support from Cheap Trick – all three bands that finally got in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame long after they were first eligible - on one bill. You simply can never go wrong with having Cheap Trick open a show. The energy, the iconic tunes, the anthems – the early crowd that got there to witness them did indeed enjoy a true gem. While the band played a Greatest Hits style show, they were the epitome of flawlessness and fun. They opened the show with “Hello There,” and kept the focus on the earlier material with “Hot Love,” “California Man” and “Oh Candy.” But they did squeeze out a newer one - “No Direction Home” which they released as a free download...
