The rock duo with all eyes on them, Girl Tones, today releases their next single — the ripping “Cherry Picker” out now via Parallel Vision x Big Loud Rock. Being misled by forbidden fruit and fighting to see things as they truly are, the chorus anthemically insists “I bit the hand that feeds me / It tastes like hypocrite / A wolf hides in sheep’s clothing / And feels like bitter death”
Singer Kenzie shares that, “‘Cherry Picker’ is the distortion of reality and the uncomfortability of death. I love this song because it’s a reminder to me that anyone, including myself, is susceptible to distortion.”
Harnessing the undeniable momentum from a triumphant festival debut at Lollapalooza last month and the steady release of new music, Girl Tones have cemented themselves as a new act to keep an eye on. Their previous single “Got It” received nods from FLOOD, Flaunt and more while “Blame” continues to see radio success after gaining national traction and charting on Triple A and Alternative radio. Having just wrapped up a tour run alongside Silversun Pickups, Girl Tones have no plans of staying off the road. Up next, they will join Cage The Elephant for more shows together and play at Shaky Knees, Austin City Limits, 97x’s Next Big Thing and Legends and more. S

Girl Tones, of planet Earth, are a high-energy rock duo brought to life by two sisters named Kenzie and Laila. Both classically trained musicians, Kenzie transitioned from cello to guitar and Laila from piano to drums in an effort to electrify sentient beings from this galaxy to the next. Their debut releases were produced by Brad Shultz of Cage The Elephant and released via his label Parallel Vision in partnership with Big Loud Rock.
Their first offerings have earned the praise of Rolling Stone, VICE, Consequence, PAPER, NME, DORK and many others with Flaunt saying, “Their sound is fluid, and yet with each release, they evolve as a harmonious group, developing their unique sound as one.”
In their short but mighty existence, the duo has become synonymous with riotous live shows. Girl Tones has toured with Cage The Elephant across the globe, as well as The Velveteers, hey, nothing. and Silversun Pickups across North America. Making their unignorable festival debut at Lollapalooza this summer, Rolling Stone said, “While the White Stripes — their most obvious comparison — were about controlled energy, Girl Tones are proudly imperfect.”
The coming months will see more new music, including the release of the new single “Cherry Picker.” The band can also be seen on tour dates alongside Silversun Pickups and Cage The Elephant, as well as upcoming festival performances at Shaky Knees, Austin City Limits, 97x’s Next Big Thing and Legends and more.
