“Only fitting at this time to keep active, positive, and creative, so I write music.” Stephen Pearcy March 30, 2020.
As the founder, lead singer, and songwriter of the rock band RATT, Stephen Pearcy led his creation to Mega-Platinum Success year after year since coming “Out of the Cellar” in 1984 and capturing critical acclaim for his performances, style, and uniquely salacious vocals.
The band RATT has sold well over (20) million records worldwide since it’s incarnation in 1983 to date, with their first record the self-titled (6) song EP, RATT.
Pearcy formed RATT, with the original members as we knew them in 1982 in Los Angeles, CA from his previous band MICKEY RATT, created in 1976 in San Diego, CA.
Known for their rebellious attitude and take no prisoner approach to metal, Atlantic Records recognized RATT’s potential and star power thus signing the band to a contract resulting in the 1984 album “Out of the Cellar”, which became one of many multi-platinum successes. RATT climbed up the charts with singles from “Out of the Cellar”, soaring past Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy”, Van Halen’s “Panama”, Madonna’s “Borderline” and David Bowie’s “Blue Jean”.
The record generated top ten singles followed by sold-out tours throughout the world for years. This momentum remained with every proceeding RATT album to include their most recent release of “Infestation” in 2010. Their last recording from that time in 1991 is Ratt “81-91″ of which marked the end of an era, and to the chagrin of many die-hard metal fans who seemingly could never get enough of Pearcy, it seemed to mark the end to a self-proclaimed “dynasty of rough & tough metal” that ruled the better part of the 80s.
Throughout RATT’s (35) years of success and up’s and down’s with Pearcy at its helm, they’ve released (8) albums and played thousands of shows all the while selling over (20) million records worldwide.
In 1992 Pearcy explored other areas of interest and created ARCADE with Cinderella’s drummer Fred Coury. Also writing and recording outfit’s Vicious Delite and Vertex 1995.
With the release of Vicious Delite (Pearcy’s punk musical effort) and his first solo debut in 2002 “Social Intercourse” followed by “Fueler”, “Under My Skin” and “Smash”. Pearcy continues to make musical challenges, and with (20) CDs to his credit on major labels and licensing thru his own Top Fuel Records. He continues to record and tour vigorously to the delight of a new emerging fan base of metal fans.
Pearcy’s fifth solo LP, “View To A Thrill”, was released Nov. 27, 2018, via Frontiers Music/Top Fuel Records with long time co-writing partner and touring lead guitarist for his solo group, Erik Ferentinos. With rave reviews and charted success. “View” has the unreal special pleasure having guitarist Robby Krieger from “The Doors”! Yes, The Doors Robby Krieger unleashes on the song “Not Killin’ Me”. Robby lays down his original slide and guitar on this song.
Added to his list of achievements in acting is 2002’s Cult Horror Classic, “Camp Utopia” with Pearcy playing the notorious camp slasher and cult leader, Timothy Bach. And a cameo as a backstage doorman in the TV show “Wicked City” 2016.
Multiple RATT songs have been featured in such films as Point Break, Weird Science, The Golden Child, Academy Award-winning movie “The Wrestler” and most recently on the soundtrack of the Emmy Award-winning show “Stranger Things” on Netflix.
Pearcy would also go on to re-record 2 Mickey Ratt songs for ABC’s 2015 television premiere of “Wicked City”, of which he is featured in a cameo.
Pearcy’s most recent exploration away from music is as a New York Times Best Selling author, “SEX, DRUGS, RATT ‘n’ ROLL… My Life in Rock” by Stephen Pearcy. Hailed as “A jaw-dropping tell-all from the lead singer of the 1980s supergroup Ratt: the groupies, the trashed hotel rooms, the drugs—and just how much you can get away with when you’re one of the biggest hair metal stars of all time.” A second book is in the works for 2020.
Pearcy’s career has spanned almost four decades, and he has been described as “one of the best frontmen to emerge from the Decade of Decadence”. His stylized vocals and performances have been the trademark of RATT hi solo group and projects throughout his career.
Pearcy heads Top Fuel World Entertainment/Top Fuel Records, as CEO, which he founded in 1995. He continues to write, record, and produce new music for tv and movies and sponsoring top fuel dragster, funny cars. Letting the RATT banner fly at NHRA drag races, which has always been Pearcy’s, first love. Owner/Driver Jeff “The Surfer” Diehl-JDRacing will again fly the RATT banner (logo) in 2020 on the professional NHRA @nhra.com circuit with Pearcy attending as many races possible around the bands 2020 touring schedules. You will see Stephen at any given race supporting the team.
“To see him on stage still doing his thing better than many of his peers is a definite dream come true for Ratt fans, Stephen Pearcy’s solo band is every bit as satisfying”. Again Stephen Pearcy fronting his new breed of RATT, with concerts through 2019. The mighty RATT will return to tour the world 2020.
Stephen and Juan Croucier (original bass player, singer) is in the process of writing new RATT music for 2020-2021. RATT has been touring, playing all the classic RATT hit’s on the “In Your Direction” Tour 2019. The band finished up their Dec. “XXX-Mas” Tour 2019 to huge crowds and sold-out shows, and a whole lot of Ratt n’ Roll hit’s.
This year 2020 is again the “Year of the RAT(T)”, per the Chinese calendar. The last year of the Rat(t)” was back in 1984. The same year RATT, the Los Angeles rock group were introduced to the world and released their debut full album “Out of the Cellar” to multi-platinum mega success. Spawning their first mega-hit single “Round & Round”, the song continues to be heard more than ever around the world.
The rest is history that kicked off a string of platinum albums and sold-out shows around the world that the band continues to the day.
Ratt singer/songwriter Stephen Pearcy was inducted into the 2020 Metal Hall Fame, at its Annual non-profit charity Gala, The Hall of Heavy Metal History. The Gala took place on January 15, 2020, at the Marriott Delta Garden Grove in Anaheim, CA.
In the present and future, Pearcy is working on his sixth solo record, a career “Best of 1977-2020” and writing with RATT bassist Juan Croucier at this time for a new RATT record to be TBA. It will be the band RATT’s (10) studio album and (10) years since the last record released from the band. There are plans to release new RATT music 2020-2021.

RATT’s signature sunset strip sound made the Los Angeles based outfit one of the most popular rock acts of the mid-’80s. As the story goes, RATT helped pioneer Hollywood’s legendary hard rock sound and scene and are proven true rock legends, headlining massive arena tours. Since 1983 to present, the band has sold in excess of 15 million albums in the US alone. Their first 4 records went Multi-Platinum.
RATT released their self-titled first album independently in 1983 and never looked back after that. Their first major-label release, Out of the Cellar proved a multi-platinum breakthrough and was subsequently followed by more platinum smashes including; Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), Dancin’ Undercover (1986) and Reach for the Sky (1988). By then the band had become mainstays on the radio with songs like the blockbuster anthem “Round and Round,” “Wanted Man,” and “Lay it Down” and was touring the world over, spreading their infectious brand of Ratt ‘N’ Roll to the masses.
2019 RATT takes their live show out on the road for a series of tour dates. The RATT line-up features original members Stephen Pearcy, Juan Croucier with the addition of Pete Holmes, Jordan Ziff.
Welcome to the year of the Ratt!
