Review:
Damn! This self titled release by Striker is one of the best metal albums that I’ve heard this year, maybe “The Best”! Starting with the opening track “Former Glory” this is the kind of metal album that makes you take notice. This one just grabs you by the throat and never let’s go. Striker hits you with an intensity that I last remember hearing when Skid Row’s Slave To The Grind was first released. Not that Striker sound anything like Skid Row, but just the impact that album made. It made it’s mark on hard rock history and this album is poised to do the same. I have been a fan of the band and have liked their previous efforts, but this one tops them all. Vocally, Dan Cleary often reminds me of Joey Belladonna from Anthrax and for me that’s a good thing. I hear a lot of Anthrax in them musically as well. These songs are just crushing and memorable at the same time. The production quality is spectacular. Striker now sounds like a mature, tight, complete band that’s really in sync. Bruising rhythm from the bass and drums along with lightning fast guitar solos, and heavy riffing. I don’t know what else a metalhead could possibly ask for when looking for a great album.  My favorite tracks are Former Glory, Pass Me By, Born To Lose, Shadows In The Light and Curse Of The Dead but this is one solid, focused metal album from the first note to the last and there simply isn’t a bad song on here. I don’t often say things like this, but if you don’t like Striker‘s new self titled release, you probably suck! This is the first must have metal album of 2017!
