Q & A With Pan’s Emissaries’ Nick Logan

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest band news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Nick: We are sort of on hiatus at the moment, but we might tour Europe next year. Other than that the tape release is the biggest news for us.

XS ROCK: How long has the band been together?
Nick: Our band has been together since the beginning of 2013.

XS ROCK: What is your music background?
Nick: I played jazz in high school. Jack has been a musician for most of his life. Our first bands were started in our sophomore year of high school.

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?
Nick: Our music conveys a sort of dark perception of reality that we want to perfect in our sound and image.

XS ROCK: What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)
Nick: We really want to tour Europe and get on a record label

XS ROCK: What are your long-term career goals?
Nick: I personally want to go to Law School after I get a Bachelor’s.

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Nick: I prefer writing songs and recording rather than playing for a live crowd, but both are equally fulfilling.

XS ROCK: What are your songs about?
Nick: Our songs are mainly about partying and being debaucherous but there is a nihilistic edge to them that expresses contempt and disdain.

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road?
Nick: Our craziest story on the road would have to be when we were up in Portland and I took a bunch of GHB, and Jack, the drummer, was on a bunch of Ketamine and one of the guys whose house we were staying at was foaming out the mouth from all of the Ketamine he was on. It was crazy and awesome.

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Nick: My parents were somewhat supportive. I would have to say the same for Jack’s parents.

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Nick: Annihilation Time really inspired us to perform live.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Nick: A dream tour would have to be Black Flag and Slayer and Behemoth and Mayhem and then us, Pan’s Emissaries.

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Nick: Our greatest accomplishment thus far would be the recording and release of Tales from the Aether on tape.

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Nick: I use a Gibson SG guitar and a Peavey amp with a Marshall cab.

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Nick: The current music scene is very dried up in the bay area then it used to be in my opinion. There aren’t as many hardcore bands or metal bands that perform regularly.

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Nick: Some random person that would be surprised by us would probably be the title of the band and the mystical notifications that our band seems to emulate.

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Nick: To someone that has never heard our band, I would probably describe the sound as heavy metal with hard rock, heavy metal and punk influences.

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Nick: We really want to come out to your town to shred the Gnar!!
