Pink Cream 69 are back again! And they’ve delivered the goods once again. I’m a big fan of these guys. They’ve been around for quite some time now and always manage to deliver quality album after album with each release. But this time you even get a second bonus album full of great live material of songs throughout their career. So, let’s start with the studio album, which is their 12th release to date. These guys are hard rocking out of the gate with We Bow To None and Walls Come Down. Both of these songs are simply outstanding and represent the band’s sound very well.  Actually the first four tracks are barn burners and the tempo doesn’t slow down until you get to “Man Of Sorrow”. Albeit, only for a moment, as it has a heavy rock foundation that builds from the beginning. I really like this album as a whole. It’s somewhat heavier than some of the past records and I for one don’t mind it all. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ballad too, but it’s really hard to knock the blood pumping tempo that most of this album has. If you’re not feeling energized after listening to “Headstrong” you’re probably dead. The album closes with the slower “The Other Man” which gives you a chance to catch your breath. This one has been getting repeat listens from me and it most likely will with any one else who hears it. It’s one of the best of the band’s career. The live album is just the icing on the cake. With great songs from their previous albums, these live renditions are great stuff. If you’ve known and followed the band, then these songs should be very familiar to you, but for the un-initiated it’s a great place to hear a lot of great tunes performed brilliantly before a live audience. The sound quality of the live tracks is quite good and could have been easily released as a stand-alone album. Do yourself a big favor and give “Headstrong” by Pink Cream 69 a try. One spin of this great album and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
