Kobra and the Lotus have just released the best album of their career. Prevail is a two-part release with Prevail II coming later this year or early 2018. After hearing Prevail I,  I am incredibly excited to get the opportunity to hear the second album. Kobra and the Lotus is a band that just seems to get better with each new album. Taking their time to complete Prevail, their fans have been eagerly awaiting a new record and it was more than worth the wait. I spoke with vocalist Kobra Paige recently and she talked about how proud they were of this record and how this was their most mature effort to date. You can read that interview here.  Well, she’s absolutely right. This band should be proud of this record. Starting with the opening track, this album impresses again and again with each new song. Gotham is a very strong song along with the following track Triggerpulse. But, I continue to be amazed with each track. You Don’t Know is a song filled with strength and emotion that is delivered flawlessly. What really sets KATL apart from so many other metal bands is the clean, beautiful vocals of Kobra Paige. Her vocals give the music a type of purity, while still maintaining a powerful presence. Every song on here should be getting airplay on rock radio. This album should propel Kobra and the Lotus to a whole new level of rock super-stardom. It really is that great. If you are already a fan of KATL, then you already know what I’m talking about. But, if you’ve never heard them before….Prevail I is the perfect place to start. This powerful, moving music that someone transcends borders and labels that are often put on music. Yes, it’s metal throughout….but it’s also so much more. I highly recommend this to all metal fans. It’s outstanding in every way possible.
