Review:
I’m always amazed when I mention Jorn to someone and they answer, who? Jorn Lande is such a talented vocalist that it doesn’t seem possible that their are still metal fans out there that haven’t heard him. Starting with the opening and title track, Life On Death Row, you get a taste of what Jorn is known for. High caliber rock n’ roll that’s memorable and superbly crafted. With a vocal style that falls somewhere between Whitesnake’s David Coverdale and the late, great Ronnie James Dio, how could anyone not like this. This album is filled with brilliant, blistering metal tracks like Hammered To The Cross, Love Is The Remedy, The Slipper Slope, Man of The 80’s, and Devil You Can Drive…well you get the point. If you’re already a fan of Jorn, then you sort of know what to expect, but if not, jump in with this release and find an outstanding metal band that you’ve been missing out on. The production quality is great and guitarist Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear) has some really great solo work throughout Life On Death Road. Fans of 80′ style heavy metal should really find comfort in listening to this album. It’s a testament that’s there’s still plenty of great music in this style, left to be made. And without a doubt Jorn is one of the top bands out there doing it.
