Wow! This five track debut EP by The Grand Masquerade is simply outstanding!  Hailing from Sweden, this four piece have created an incredible first outing. Starting out with the opening track “By My Side”, you’ll quickly understand that is a focused, professional band with the ability to craft some of the most catchy songs you’ll hear from the genre. Every track represented here is a pure melodic hard rock masterpiece. The band is comprised of excellent musicians, who create a really cohesive sound. The production quality is also top notch. All I can say is…..give me more! The band members are all dressed in…well, Grand Masquerade masks, complete with outfits inspired by royalty. I know, I know, some people will call their appearance a gimmick, but rest assured, these guys need no gimmicks. The music speaks for itself. However, the band has created a look that may well lead to a new glam movement in rock music. While “By My Side” is my favorite, every song on this EP could easily be a rock radio hit. One of the best rock debuts that I’ve heard in years. I’m really looking forward to hearing more from The Grand Masquerade in the near future. I highly recommend this album if AOR and melodic hard rock/metal are your thing. You won’t be disappointed. Check out MMXVI today. You can buy it wherever digital music is sold!
