Review:

One of the best voices in rock music during the 1980’s was David Glenn Eisley. The two albums released by Giuffria featuring Eisley on vocals were incredible. The band had a few commercial hits, but was worthy of so much more. Then suddenly Giuffria called it quits. Much of the band morphed into a new band called House Of Lords, while David Glenn Eisley seemed to just disappear. A few years back my kids were watching an episode of Spongebob Squarepants where Spongebob breaks into an incredible rock ballad with this powerful voice. I knew instantly that it was Eisley. After a little research, I was able to verify that it was indeed him. After that, I became hopeful that he would record again. Enter 2017, and David Glenn Eisley and former Giuffria bandmate have teamed up to release their first album together as Eisely/Goldy entitled Blood, Guts And Games. Most people know Craig Goldy from his time with the legendary Dio. The first song “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” simply blew me away. Eisley still has the same strong voice and doesn’t seem to have missed a beat in over 20 years since his last released recording with Giuffria. Blood Guts And Games is a soulful, rocking album that mixes ballads and rockers to create a great album that is very reminiscent of their sound in Giuffria. Craig Goldy is simply on fire with some of his best playing in years.  Tracks like “Wings Of  A Hurricane” and “No More Prayers In The Night” give these guys a chance to really highlight their musical abilities. With the exception of the drums, all other instruments were performed by David Glenn Eisley and Craig Goldy, which makes this album, even more amazing.  Blood Guts And Games is an outstanding release that truly has to be heard. Fans of Giuffria, House Of Lords, Deep Purple and Whitesnake will absolutely love this album. I sincerely hope the partnership of Eisley/Goldy continues and they create more of this great music in the future. Every song presented here is simply a masterpiece of rock music.
