Crosson Interview With XS ROCK

XS ROCK: Tell me about the latest news? Any new projects coming out, live shows or announcements?
Crosson: I’ll begin with the latest CROSSON album, ‘Spreading The Rock N Roll Disease. It was mixed by legendary producer Duane Baron (Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper) and European metal producer extraordinaire Mikko Karmila (Nightwish, Edguy, Stratovarius) and mastered by U.S mastering legend Dave Donnelly (Aerosmith, KISS, Whitesnake)
It’s our best effort to date. We recommend you check it out. Its available at all online music stores or you can listen to it on Spotify etc

XS ROCK: How long has Crosson been together?
Crosson: I’ve been working on CROSSON for quite some time, however it’s the last 5 years that we got great engineers involved, got a deal in Germany and had an international release. .

XS ROCK: What was your main motivation for starting or being in a band?
Crosson: Well. KISS has been an influence since I was very young.
My first show was Iron Maiden and after seeing all the fire, smoke and monsters , it was an epiphany … “I wanna do that”!!!

XS ROCK: What is your music background?
Crosson: Believe it not, my first instrument was the piano accordion (demanding Greek father !!) who was devastated when at 16 I gave it up to focus on the electric guitar… The house was never the same after the BOSS distortion pedal and Amplifier shook the walls of the house!!

XS ROCK: What image do you think your music conveys?
Crosson: CROSSON’s music has a cheeky tongue on cheek side, but if you listen closely to the lyrics its quite motivational and inspirational. “If you believe you can achieve, but thats up to you”. If we can bring a smile to people faces and as well as make them go out and achieve their dreams, then we’ve done our job.

XS ROCK: What are your immediate music career goals?
Crosson: Well we are preparing for another album release in mid 2018. The album is once again mixed by Duane Baron and is called Invincible. That’s all I can at the moment, except that’s it is going make people’s jaws drop.  We are putting together a new CROSSON show with new costumes, new tunes and intend to hit the road towards the beginning of 2018.

XS ROCK: What are your long-term career goals?
Crosson: Long term….– to deliver our bombastic stage show to as many pole as possible, keep on putting out quality music and of course.….. World Domination!!

XS ROCK: Which do you prefer? Writing new songs and recording or playing for a live audience?
Crosson: Nothing beats the adrenalin of playing live. That behind said, creating something new that you didn’t think you had inside you is a good feeling. Writing and producing is time consuming but the final product is yours forever and gives an indication of where you were at during that period of your life.

XS ROCK: What are your some of your songs about?
Crosson: CROSSON songs definitely have a tongue in cheek side to them. Then there’s the inspirational and motivational message behind a lot of CROSSON tunes. At the end of the day, I just want to write catchy powerful songs that will stick in listeners heads.  I’m always getting people complaining “That damn song of yours, I can’t get it out of head” ……. I guess that’s a good thing!!!

XS ROCK: Do you have any outrageous tour stories from the road?
Crosson: I’m going to have to plead the fifth amendment on that question!!

XS ROCK: What’s the strangest request that you’ve ever received from one of your fans?
Crosson: Ha!! It was just a usual request however, this one was from a man!!… Say no more… “Exit Stage Left!!!!”

XS ROCK: Were your parents supportive of your aspirations to play in a rock band?
Crosson: My father is still concerned!!! Mum has a scrap book of all the press clippings and interviews and reads them constantly.. My biggest fan!!!

XS ROCK: What are your favorite tracks to play live?
Crosson: At this stage I’d have to say an old CROSSON track called “I’m the Doctor.” The CROSSON girls come out in Red PVC nurse’s uniforms, squirt the audience with their syringes, resuscitate me (Hubba Hubba !!.) and make it a very entertaining and titillating experience….

XS ROCK: Which band or artist inspired you to perform? Why?
Crosson: You wouldn’t think so by our lack of image, but I definitely am influenced by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. It’s not just about delivering great songs but also putting on an energetic stage show and having a visually stimulating image that people will remember.

XS ROCK: If you could design a dream tour for your band, who would be on the bill?
Crosson: Good question.. let me think…
KISS, Queen (we can bring back Freddie via a DNA cloning), ACDC, Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi (circa 1988) and of course CROSSON!!!

XS ROCK: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
Crosson: Musically it would have to be the new album which is due for release in 2018. Due to the fact that my co-writer and co-producer was unavailable, it forced me to write and produce and arrange the whole album by myself. Once the musicians were given their parts and we entered the studio, it all came together. Plus having to design a new image, write the scripts for the videos and coordinate cast, crew, art designers etc has pretty much taken up the last few years of my life… but its been well worth it.

On a personal side, it would be my 2 boys!!

XS ROCK: If you weren’t performing in a band what kind of career do you think you would have?
Crosson: I’m fortunate enough to have various business interests which enables me to finance the whole CROSSON production.
I could be on the phone with one of my staff discussing business while dressed in CROSSON regalia on the other end of the phone shooting a video!!!

XS ROCK: What type of equipment do you use for live shows?
Crosson: With the guitars, it’s all about show… At the moment I’m using either a Paul Stanley Silver Sparkle Firestar or Dean Schenker Flying V … In the studio though I’ll use a Strat as I love a maple neck however, a Strat doesn’t look that crash hot with all the costumes !!!

XS ROCK: What do you think of the current music scene?
Crosson: I’m actually listening to a lot of European bands at the moment like Kissin Dynamite, Crystal Ball, H.E.AT, Shakra, Crazy Lixx, Vega, The Treatment, StOp! sTop!, Axxis , W.E.T, & Eclipse to name a few. There is a pumping glam / melodic / heavy rock scene in Europe and the above bands are awesome!!!

XS ROCK: For anyone that doesn’t know you, what would they be surprised to know about you?
Crosson: I may look wild in all the CROSSON regalia, but I actually don’t drink much or do any drugs and I train at the gym and swim 6 days a week plus I do hot Bikrim yoga 3 times a week…. Not very Rock N Roll but it keeps me focused and fit!!

XS ROCK: If someone had never heard you before, how would you describe your sound?
Crosson: CROSSON’s music can be described as Theatrical Melodic Glam Rock with catchy choruses and big harmonies!!

XS ROCK: Is there anything that you’d like to promote or say to your fans out there?
Crosson: Thanks to everyone for your support, it really means a lot to us.
