Archon Angel – Fallen (Review)

Check Out ARCHON ANGEL, Featuring Zak Stevens From Savatage On Lead Vocals

Review: [usr 4.0]

Most of you will know lead vocalist Zak Stevens from his stint with Savatage. And those same fans should be right at home with “Archon Angel”.  Yes, there is a lot of similarity to the later work of the mighty Savatage, but it also treads new ground.  I simply can’t get enough of the song “The Serpent”, which is the second track on the album.  The drumbeat is heavy and uncompromising with a guitar sound that adds a menacing element. While it’s definitely my favorite track on Fallen, there are lots of great songs to choose from. For instance, the song “Fallen” has a really memorable sound and lyrically is just as appealing.  Other standout tracks include “Hit The Wall”, “Under The Spell”, Twilight and “Brought To The Edge”.  Those who like powerful ballads will find “Faces Of Innocence” and “Brought To The Edge” to be everything they’re looking for and more.  It’s really glad to see Zak and company producing a great album like this.  “Fallen” seems like it could be a continuation of the same sound that he brought to the Savatage albums.  Melodic metal fans will definitely want to pick this one up.  It’s both brilliant and enjoyable throughout.
